I’m actually begging you.
Look at what has happened in Nigeria over the past few years.
Fuel subsidy was removed, and transportation became more expensive.
Electricity tariffs were increased, and businesses had to deal with even higher operating costs.
In May 2025, Amnesty International reported that at least 10,217 people had been killed in attacks by armed groups across seven Nigerian states during the first two years of Tinubu’s administration.
And according to the IMF, about 63% of Nigerians were living in poverty in 2025.
These are people’s lives we’re talking about.
Someone is struggling to feed their children. Someone can’t afford proper healthcare. Someone is afraid to travel because they don’t know if they’ll return home alive.
And tomorrow, that someone could be you or someone you love.
𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.

If you haven’t registered, follow INEC’s official announcements so you don’t miss the next registration opportunity.
Talk to your eligible siblings, friends, parents, neighbours and even that random person you meet. Help them understand the process if they don’t know how.
And when it’s time to vote, please do. Don’t sell your vote, and don’t let anybody decide for you.
We shouldn’t have to beg people to participate in decisions that affect their own lives.
Voting alone won’t fix everything, but refusing to participate won’t make things better either.
Nigeria can still be better. I genuinely believe that.

In contrast, if I may, we found our own voice. The video you watched was taken when we had very close colonial contact. So, we mimicked the English pronunciation, enunciation and diction.
What we have now, when you hear a Nigerian accent, is usually finally breaking through the language. We found our own voice. The Ghanaian accent is distinct for this same reason.
We now have the Nigerian English, it is not adulterated, it has adapted, quite usually, as other non- English speakers.
