Peter Obi: Subsidy Should Be Domiciled in the Agricultural and Manufacturing Sectors
The subsidy regime in Nigeria emerged amid corruption and criminality. Removing those two factors will give us a clearer picture of whether we actually need subsidies. I believe if we tackle corruption, we might not need subsidies at all. The price of petrol in Nigeria is high. We should ensure a regular supply of crude to local refineries so they can refine it for domestic consumption. That will invariably reduce the cost of fuel. I will allocate subsidies to productive sectors. What we have today is subsidy induced hardship with no gains to justify its removal

PRESS STATEMENT
With heavy heart and in the strongest terms to condemn, in its totality, the barbaric and unprovoked attack on members of the Obidient and OK Movement, which occurred today in Asaba, the Delta State capital, at the hands of armed political thugs working for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This brazen assault, carried out in broad daylight, represents a dangerous escalation in the sustained campaign of intimidation and violence that has been repeatedly unleashed on the NDC and her candidates across Delta State. The consequences of today's attack were grave: the Delta Central Coordinator of the Movement was severely wounded, several other members sustained varying degrees of injuries and campaign vehicles alongside private vehicles belonging to members were badly damaged.
These are not isolated incidents. They form part of a disturbing pattern of coordinated attacks on the NDC, her candidates, her supporters and allied movements, a pattern designed to stifle lawful political participation, silence dissent and subvert the democratic process through fear and bloodshed. We condemn this sustained campaign of political violence in the strongest possible terms and declare, unequivocally, that Delta State must not be allowed to become a theatre of electoral brigandage.
We note with measured hope that, at the time of this publication the Delta State Commissioner of Police invited the leadership of the movement. We await the outcome of the invitation in good faith. We demand nothing less than a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation that leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators and their sponsors, no matter how highly placed. An attack on lawful citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble and associate is an attack on democracy itself and it must attract the full weight of the law.
We also call on all security agencies operating in Delta State to rise to their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property, particularly as the political season intensifies. The people of Delta State deserve to participate in the democratic process without fear of molestation, injury or death. We further call on the relevant authorities to guarantee the safety of the leadership and members of the Movement going forward and to ensure that today's invitation does not become a substitute for genuine action against the real aggressors.
We appeal to our members and supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding and resolute. Violence and provocation will not deter us from our legitimate pursuit of a better Delta State and a better Nigeria. We shall continue to stand firm in defence of democracy, justice and the rule of law.
We urge all well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organisations, the media, and the international community to closely monitor developments in Delta State. The repeated assaults on the NDC and her candidates must not be normalised, ignored or swept under the carpet.
Enough is enough. Delta State belongs to all Deltans, not to thugs and their sponsors.
We demand justice. We await the outcome of the police invitation. And we will not be silenced.
Signed

FROM EFFURUN TO ASABA: DELTANS DESERVE SAFETY AND ANSWERS
I unequivocally condemn the reported attack on Obidient supporters along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, on 7 November 2026. Accounts shared with us describe a peaceful rally disrupted by suspected thugs who smashed the windscreens of supporters’ vehicles and injured participants.
Nobody should face violence for attending a political rally. Our people’s right to organise must come with protection in practice.
More than seven weeks have passed since the violence during NDC mobilisation in Effurun on 18 September 2026. Deltans deserve a substantive public account of that investigation: what has been established, any arrests or charges, and what action has followed.
I call on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to ensure that the Asaba attack is thoroughly and impartially investigated. Witness accounts, footage and evidence of injuries and vehicle damage must be examined, and anyone found responsible brought to justice.
Within seven days of this statement, the Police Command should publicly brief Deltans on both investigations and outline measures to protect political participants and witnesses.
I call on the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, to explain what his administration has done since announcing the Effurun probe to protect political gatherings and prevent further violence. Deltans deserve to know how those assurances are being translated into action.
The Department of State Services should assess threats and support efforts to prevent further attacks. INEC should urgently convene security agencies and political parties in Delta State through its election security coordination arrangements to agree concrete safeguards for political activities.
Our campaign will submit a written request for these updates, supported by available evidence. If no substantive public briefing follows within seven days, we will petition the Inspector-General of Police for direct intervention, notify the National Peace Committee and brief the press.
To our NDC members and the Obidient Movement: I stand firmly with you. Remain united, vigilant and resolute in peaceful, lawful participation.
An announcement of an investigation must be followed by answers, accountability and concrete protection for our people.
Delta belongs to all of us. Reset Delta means a state where nobody is intimidated for their politics.
Our voices will be heard. Our resolve remains strong.
Deacon Chris Iyovwaye
NDC Governorship Candidate, Delta State 2027.

I conducted a small social experiment today to understand the level of poverty in our nation. I went to a small shop opposite my house, a middle class neighborhood surrounded by a slum. I decided to pay for every customer for 6 hours to see the average spend (1/4)
Everybody wants to measure up to obi. Peter Obi is the only opposition going heads on at Tinubu.
Some others are fighting Peter Obi and his supporters while being heavily supported by APC.
VOTE PETER OBI of NDC✌️

The NDC is running one of the most unorthodox political campaigns we’ve seen. A decentralised campaign structure, with grassroots mobilisation happening across different communities. I have a feeling they’ve hired a seriously brilliant strategist. 🔥

My entire family and friends and I will vote for Peter obi in the coming election why?
1, the present APC government and President Tinubu have scattered Nigerian, and the hardship is now unbearable.
