"[...], I would write about fear. People get stuck in situations and they want to do something else but they’re afraid. And there’s no way not to be afraid. But to me, courage is not not being afraid; it’s, what do you do in spite of being afraid." -Bill Withers

Haven't posted in a long time but feel the duty to report that #Autowa finally got me. Driver took me over just before trying to do a right turn and they immediately slammed on the brakes coming to a full stop without giving me any chance to react. So I kissed the trunk 1/

Luckily enough I only have a few scratches & bruises. Besides a broken bell, my bike seems to be fine. It happened on an intersection that I use daily but try to avoid because the painted bike lane disappears right in front of it and it's super dangerous merging with traffic. 2/2

The driver of the vehicle is apparently a huge fan / supporter of Elon Musk, Alex Jones and the AFD

It's ironic that the city applied salt to the bike lane ahead of the first snow storm of the season but hasn't come out in the fall to remove all the leaves, that are a slip hasard when wet. #OttBike

I see potential for a large outdoor rink at this site. It doesn't look like construction will start anytime soon as the developer doesn't seem to be willing to pay for the removal of contaminated soil without funding from the city.

But what about the parking spots? #Autowa will never allow this to become a reality.
Agree - we want to see how popular it is and my big stretch goal is to have a real rink (like the rink of dreams) in front of the Ottawa sign 🤞

Can construction vehicles without a license plate get parking tickets? I'm asking because tis vehicle has been parked like this for a couple of weeks now.

The sidewalk on the other side of the street was damaged during the construction of a home because construction workers would always park their vehicles on the sidewalk. xitter.cf/VanierDe/status/180104…

Yes, it is! Photo on the left is from July 2019 before construction, the one on the right is from May 2022 after most of construction was done.

Good morning Ottawa! Bonjour Ottawa!

The city advocating for a designation as a "rural city" from the province is so Ottawa. Makes you wonder if it's really the capital of a G7 country.

What's next? Do we need a rural night mayor?

Yeah, the new message board didn't age well.

Hi #ottbike - our orange Yuba electric cargo bike was stolen from our building in Mechanicsville yesterday evening. The air tag on it was discarded in Chinatown by Bruyere medical clinic. Please keep an eye out! project529.com/flats-bottle-…

Peanut update: It's nuts!
Another perk of gardening: Plants that were gifted to you by nature. Pictured is a peanut plant that was accidentally planted by a squirrel or chipmunk.

Please explain why drivers need car lanes on both sides of the road?

I recently learned that School Cash Online, the payment systems used in (most/all?) Ontario schools receives 4% of the transaction amount and it is already included in the children's school fees (agendas, yearbooks, class trips). 1/2

The company offering this service is KEV School Solutions and headquartered in the USA. Apparently, they also charge fees for the participating schools. Why can't the Gov of ON offer this service themselves instead of outsourcing it to a for profit company in the US?
