I think there is quite a bit to be said about a potential 2028 contender who loses sight of the task at hand, and is fixated on enhancing their own profile. I suspect Democratic voters will remember that when the time comes, and it will doom them.

Utterly fucking meaningless. A few of these people will not be running, and by the time we get to California, even more won’t be.
Newsom third and Harris fifth in their hometown of San Francisco. Plus, AOC is fourth even with Bernie (who said he isn't running) and Mamdani (who can't run) included in the field xitter.cf/PollTracker2024/status…

The left HATES this btw!
I left the Democrats a few months ago and somehow started aging backward. I’m 44, but people think I’m in my 30’s. No more constant outrage, guilt, or doomscrolling. Stress ages you. My dermatologist asked what changed. I told her I stopped treating every Trump headline like a personal emergency. Friends keep asking if I got work done. Nope. I just stopped treating normal life like a human rights violation. Turns out, perpetual outrage is terrible for your complexion. Leaving the Democrats was the best decision I ever made. My skin agrees.

Her Team is on FIRE! 🔥🔥😘The Mississippi Trip was well timed, critical successful and so important to the people and for @scott_colom I pray he wins! Some Good Trouble is happening in Mississippi! Anything you can do to help TEAM COLOM please do!
Kamala Harris’s presence in Mississippi highlighted not only her own ambition, but also the newfound attention from Democrats on Scott Colom, who is striving to become the first Democrat elected to the Senate from Mississippi in some four decades. wapo.st/4z587jj

Them: A former Vice President is only 12% in an open ended poll! That's sooooooo embarrassing, everyone knows who she is! That's soooo unprecedented. Me:

In public. In private.... ehhh... lmao
The very weird thing about Texas is the absolute lack of acknowledgment from Republicans that they could very well lose the race. I get it if you believe “Paxton will win”. What I don’t get is that little to no Republicans will admit that it’s (at bare minimum) a close race.

My best advice is this; commentators have short memories when it comes to Presidential primaries. Shit is cyclical. The same group of characters have the same things to say. Throw it in the average and move on. Midterms are in ten days.

That, and the maybe month we have after of no overt politics until the Presidential cycle moves fully public.

Here's one from 2019. Throw it in the average and move on.
The New York Times did an open-ended 2028 question and they found Harris to be a much weaker front-runner than other surveys nytimes.com/2026/10/24/us/de…

🤷‍♂️
Open ended polls, in frankly, open fields, by nature, are compressed lower, percentage wise, relative to fielded selections. If you go at it another way: It’s roughly Harris 12% Newsom: 9% Buttigieg: 7% AOC: 6% If you remove the portion of respondents who didn’t basically pick someone randomly, it looks more like Harris: 22% Newsom: 16% Buttigieg: 13% AOC: 11% Which is the on the lower relatively consistent, and still artificially depressed. You cannot forget that this is technically an open field. And that there are just as many people who would love to see Harris be run as there are who are not. Name recognition, spontaneous support, and first choice preference are three separate buckets.

Anyone saying that is stupid and not serious.
People asserting this means Harris doesn’t have a chance need — well, I’ll refrain from saying what I really think, but to put it kindly — they need a reality check.
