NEWS: Today I’m launching The Small Ideas Initiative. We want you to submit ideas at Small-Ideas.org for non-controversial fixes, e.g “live sewage updates for beaches” or “standardised allergen menus”.
A year ago, an interviewer asked what I’d have told the Government if I’d been advising it, I replied, 'Come up with 100 small things that piss people off and fix one a day for the first 100 days'. As I left the stage, I emailed myself, 'set up Small ideas institute!'
And today, I’m excited it's happening. I’m funding two charities to work together to collate the submissions, narrow them down to about 200 doables then turn those into formal policy proposals which I'll bring back to you for feedback.
Then to finish we've a Cross-Party panel who’ve agreed to pick 50ish, after which we’ll start trying to make them happen. You can read far more about it and who the cross party panel are here… blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2…
JFC. Long thread, but in short NHS Scotland just gave themselves carte blanche to do absolutely nothing to protect staff and patients from C∅vid, despite it continuing to kill (5k+ last year in UK), and disable people year round. 🤦♂️

If you know someone who is stuck at home, sick, convalescing, chronically ill or a carer for said person….
don’t disappear into the ether.
Stay in contact.
Let them hear your voice.
Don’t let them become invisible.
It’s hard enough for them as it is - let them know you care.
- Note the trend (sure looks like it could be exponential)
- Note the date: snapshot of 4 weeks ago!
- Note the number of people around you who have "new term flu", "a bit of a sniffle", or whatever else they want to call /a viral infection/ but haven't tested to rule out C19.

A lot of chronically ill people have learned to keep the worst of it to themselves because too many of you have taught them that being honest about how bad it is will eventually be treated like complaining.
Millions disabled, people still dying from it (almost 1000 this year so far). When do we accept that ignoring C∅v1d isn't working and take action (such as that proposed by @GrnsAgnstCvd ) ??!

I often wonder what keeps people with #LongCovid & #MECFS going. I think it’s the immense lust for life that people have, they want to live so bad - yet so often they’re judged as the problem being them not having any lust for life anymore. It’s such a painful misinterpretation.
