Common belief: Robot policies need continuous action heads; discrete actions are โ—We find policies w/ the simplest discrete representations ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐œ๐ก ๐จ๐ซ ๐›๐ž๐š๐ญ continuous onesโ€”in sim & real, in single-step & diffusion/flow settings. Replying to @YananSui
@YananSuiโ€™s group built this.
This is a virtual human body with 700 muscle actuators, 206 joints, and 90 body segments. It's fully open source, and researchers can use it to simulate human movement through muscle-level control.

With @JayHe748646 @KehanWen170077 @leggedrobotics , we push humanoid mobility to next frontier. Achieved by a generalist contact planner + a generalist tracker + a generalized neural mapping, warmstarted from few human data. Website: leggedrobotics.github.io/ACPโ€ฆ Promo Video ๐Ÿ‘‡

11/12 Takeaway: we may need to Uniform bins, the simplest discrete actions, match or beat continuous heads once their tokens are kept consistent, through guidance or iterative refinement. Also happy to talk about some of our other latest work like DIAL-MPC: a Diffusion-style annealing + sampling-based MPC lecar-lab.github.io/dial-mpcโ€ฆ.
I'll be in Vancouver for #NeurIPS2024 presenting Model-Based Diffusion (MBD) lecar-lab.github.io/mbd/ a diffusion-based training-free trajectory optimization method. I'm eager to chat about the latest in control and learning theory - please DM me if interested!

Why do we treat train and test times so differently? Why is one โ€œtrainingโ€ and the other โ€œin-context learningโ€? Just take a few gradients during test-time โ€” a simple way to increase test time compute โ€” and get a SoTA in ARC public validation set 61%=avg. human score! @arcprize

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšจ One Policy, Many Modes! Check our new versatile humanoid wholebody controller๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿค– Humanoids are expected to be the ultimate embodiment for general-purpose robots, but reaching that potential means adapting to diverse tasksโ€”navigation, tabletop manipulation, loco-manipulationโ€”each needing unique control modes. ๐Ÿค” Can one controller handle it all? โœจ Introducing HOVER: ๐Ÿงฉ Unified Command Space: Supports kinematic position, joint angle, and root tracking in a unified versatile policy. ๐Ÿ’ช Generalist Controller: HOVER outperforms previous specialized policies trained on specific modes (ExBody, H2O, OmniH2O, HumanPlus). ๐ŸŒ Website: hover-versatile-humanoid.gitโ€ฆ
