Studying the genes of about 12000 people we have found a new #ALS #MND gene, DNAJC7. The DNAJC7 protein helps other proteins fold into the correct shape, and helps clear damaged proteins. When this goes wrong proteins build up in nerve cells and they die. nature.com/articles/s41593-0…

This is great news! I know that the original 100k genomes project folks who had #MND were eligible, subject to the #MND Care Centre team giving the ok. Genomics will play an increasing role in research, like @_Makeityours project has done so far also! teapaw.org/mft_genomics/status/10…
