The 3D viewer, variant overlay, amino acid colour schemes — none of it was built for a chat context.
Getting it into a sandboxed iframe, sharing React context across component boundaries, reporting its own height dynamically... that took real untangling.
Once the infrastructure is in place, each new widget is essentially free.
The visualisation already exists in the platform. You're just giving it a new address.
Built with Claude Code + the MCP-UI framework + existing Open Targets components.
Post 2 of a series(?). Pura vida 🔭

The 3D protein structure viewer 🚀
@GoogleDeepMind #AlphaFold predicted the structure. @OpenTargets Platform stores where the variant sits. This prototype connects both — rendered directly in the conversation.
No screenshot. No link. The structure lives in the chat.
Finally I can properly explore the mcp-ui pattern. Pretty interesting how the development of new components (complex ones) will change dramatically the way data is loaded into them. Exiting times🔥 building a demo using @opentargets.orgcomponents.

Doing a recap of the week. It was amazing to attend my first Remix London meetup. Thanks to
@CloudflareDev for organising!
Great to check out such nice tooling as MCPS and Cloudflare workers. A lot of ideas for building new tools for @OpenTargets 🔥
Related. This is a proof of concept for an MCP server for the Open Targets API. Just checking-in github.com/carcruz/ot-mcp-pr…
Excited to share our "Associations on the Fly" paper in Oxford Bioinformatics!🧬
In @OpenTargets we built this tool to visualise multi-level data on a single screen, helping researchers navigate complex evidence without switching context.

There are many improvements and new features in the latest @OpenTargets release. Genetics here we go 🚀
New data visualizations, accessible color pallets, and full UI refresh. Not to say, the addition of @observablehq Plot.js s, the upgrade to @vite_js v6. React Router v7 🔜

Es atroz. ¡¡Así es como le van destruyendo la calidad de vida a la gente!! Este desastre de política pública pro-caos vial produce enfermedad crónica, depresión y agresividad.
No puede ser que la ciudadanía siga tolerando este desastre.
Thanks to the @OpenTargets tech team for supporting the organic development of features and constant refactoring in AotF

One of my favorite PhD theses (about architectural complexity) literally cites
"Some engineers in the study had 10x more output, this drowned out all other measurable effects"
as a big challenge in its methodology section
“"10X engineers are a myth, and believing in them is harmful." Quite the contrary. In many teams, a small fraction of the workforce often generates the majority of outcomes. Recognizing and nurturing high-performing individuals isn't just realistic—it's crucial.”
My brother from another mother is right
Happy to be part of the history of @OpenTargets 👏🎉
