Someone is putting the law of every country into one git history. Git for Global Law turns each country's laws into a repository where every commit is a real law taking effect. So you can see exactly what the law said on any date, and which law changed every word. It started with the US Code, which hit #1 on Hacker News. The global version is growing country by country: Germany's constitution since 1949, Estonia and more so far. Free to use for anything, and perfect for feeding to an AI. github.com/lexifina/global-l…

This would normally seem obvious, but given current trends I see on this app it might as well be said: Be like Jean-Luc Picard. An articulate, thoughtful, responsible, assertive commander who wakes up every day thinking about the wellbeing of the people on his ship and their mission. Not Anakin Skywalker. An emo, selfish, violent person who couldn’t for the life of him articulate what he’d do ahead of time or why, and asks for more power. The fact that he’s trending now says something about those trending him.

In the age of AI in 2026 - any idiot can spend $$$ tokens to spin up a dashboard and claim they know how it works, but to make it safe, reliable, and consistent still remains elusive.

I find AI to be extremely knowledgeable, and so exceptionally able to detect references to almost anything, but not very wise, and so it only makes the most surface-level judgements about what point some writing is making. This is particularly true when it's analyzing writing that it just read for the first time, as opposed to analyzing writing that's already in its training data (along with lots of analysis of that writing by other people) AI's knowledgeableness is easier to see than its limited wisdom; it's perhaps even the very definition of wisdom that it cannot be easily verified (as opposed to intelligence).

⚡️The United States is slowly selling its future policy freedom to finance the present. Debt is usually discussed as a number. That misses the real object being accumulated. Every additional trillion is a claim on future taxation, future growth, future monetary policy, future political choices, and future generations of output. The government receives purchasing power now and gives away degrees of freedom later. At small scale, debt expands optionality. At this scale, debt begins consuming it. That is the phase change. The state becomes progressively less able to tolerate outcomes that would otherwise be economically cleansing. High real rates become fiscally corrosive. Deflation becomes poisonous because nominal revenues fall against fixed liabilities. Deep recessions become harder to permit. Asset-price collapses threaten collateral, tax receipts, pensions and financial stability simultaneously. So policy starts bending around the balance sheet. That creates a hidden asymmetry: The United States increasingly needs nominal expansion simply to preserve room to maneuver. More GDP. More productivity. More asset value. More tax receipts. More monetary velocity. More technological output. The machine must keep getting larger because the claims written against the future keep getting larger too. That is why AI suddenly belongs inside the debt conversation. If AI produces a genuine productivity discontinuity, it expands the economic substrate underneath the debt fast enough to restore breathing room. If it does not, the adjustment migrates elsewhere. Currency. Real purchasing power. Interest-rate suppression. Financial repression. Future taxation. Some combination of those absorbs what real growth could not. And that leads to the deepest implication: The debt problem is ultimately a sovereignty problem. A sovereign is supposed to control its choices. But once enough future income has already been promised, the range of available choices narrows. Eventually the government still appears sovereign legally while becoming increasingly governed economically by the need to preserve the system carrying its liabilities. That is the inversion. The debt no longer sits on the balance sheet. The balance sheet starts writing policy.
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 US national debt reaches new all-time high of $40.5 trillion.

Kimi K3.1 is out; it is the #1 OSS model. It places similarly to Opus 5, which was released 3 months ago. Thus, China is lagging the frontier by about 3 months. The Kimi K3 release was #1 on Code Arena, at the time better than all US labs. K3.1 is close, but substantially off from Opus 5.5. On a performance vs cost-per-task basis, the combo of Sonnet 5.5 and DeepSeek V4.1 flash together dominate this model. The race is so tight!!! Congrats to the Moonshot team on a great release. And now, back to work. The frontier never sleeps!
Big news: @Kimi_Moonshot is back in the top-4 labs in the Code Arena: WebDev with the release of Kimi K3.1 Pro! This model just landed #8 in the Code Arena: WebDev with 1692 pts, matching Claude Opus-5 (Max) at 70% lower cost. This is a 9 place jump (+37 points) from Kimi K3 (Max) at #17 with 1655 pts. Kimi K3.1 Pro improved from Kimi K3 across all categories. Highlights: - #7 in Brand & Marketing (up from #9) - #9 in Simulations (up from #20) Cost efficiency is another upgrade. Priced at $2/$10 per million input/output tokens, Kimi K3.1 Pro (Max) has a median cost per task of $1.23 (29% less than Kimi K3). See its placement compared to the Pareto frontier in thread. With open weights coming soon, Kimi K3.1 Pro would be the new #1 open model in the Code Arena: WebDev, overtaking DeepSeek-v4.1-Flash. Stay tuned! See @Kimi_Moonshot’s ranking by lab, and 3D generations from Kimi K3.1 Pro below in thread. Huge congrats to the @Kimi_Moonshot team on this release!

I think we’ll see a lot more of this. The attackers were going after the AI keys stored on Railway, because an API key is basically a credit card for compute now. Every company running agents is sitting on a pile of these keys! here’s the 10 minute fix. rotate every key tonight, set a hard monthly spend limit in each AI dashboard, give every agent its own key, and turn on usage alerts so you know the second something spikes. someone should build the tool that finds every AI key a company has, rotates them every week and pings you when spend looks weird. charge $99 a month. every startup running agents needs it yesterday.
Railway has been hacked.

they’re calling it “Black October” and i don’t think people realize how serious this is in the last 48 hours there have been over 27 major cybersecurity incidents. not in a month. not in a week. in 48 hours any ONE of these would normally be the biggest story of the year PHP: critical vulnerability in the software running 80% of the web. severity 9.2 out of 10 Node.js: high-severity flaw letting attackers take over servers remotely. affects versions 22, 24, and 26 Java: also compromised. three of the most used programming languages on earth hit at the same time GitLab: a perfect 10 out of 10 severity hole in every version since 2014 Railway: hosting platform compromised. API keys for OpenAI, Claude, Stripe potentially exposed Signal: a bug that could leave your mic and camera on after you hang up WordPress: hackers stole a plugin maker’s keys and planted backdoors on websites LiteLLM: an AI tool downloaded 3.4 million times a day was poisoned with a password stealer and that’s not even half the list thousands of AI agent swarms are reportedly scanning and attacking vulnerable servers right now. automated. around the clock security researchers are saying this might be the early stages of a global cyber incident that nobody fully understands yet if you run a website, use cloud services, store API keys on hosting platforms, or use any software built on PHP, Node.js, or Java you are potentially affected update everything. rotate your API keys. change your passwords on critical services. enable 2FA everywhere you haven’t already this is not a normal week on the internet. this is something different

We are two weeks away from the election and I’m seeing large accounts telling people to stay home… I get it. You’re upset with the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, but the LAST thing you should do is sit this one out - let me explain why. First of all, your local government is more important than your reps in DC. They have jurisdiction over your roads, sidewalks, water, parks, fire, police, permitting, ordinances, and so much more. Secondly, many people have millage proposals on their ballot. Do you really want other people to determine if you should have a tax increase? And finally, your vote matters. It may seem insignificant in federal elections, but local elections can be determined by just a few votes. So only vote on the local matters if you need to, but please show up.

The US affordability crisis is worsening: Food prices have surged +34.5% since December 2019, now at their highest level on record. Rent and grocery prices have risen +33.3% and +30.0%, respectively. Furthermore, motor vehicle maintenance and repair prices have soared +55.2% over the same period. Meanwhile, prices for services excluding rent, including medical care, transportation, education, communication, and recreation, have increased +29.2% since December 2019. As a result, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen +30.4%. Basic necessities are becoming increasingly unaffordable in the US.

This is a very cool (and totally weird!) model... all normal LLMs create text through token-by-token inference, printing out each word sequentially. Diffusion text models like Mercury create the entire output simultaneously and then it appears at once (this is normally how image models work) I don't understand it but it works FAST
Mercury 3 is live on Venice. Inception’s diffusion model runs 4x faster than Haiku 5.5 and 8x faster than GPT-6 Luna, beats both on agentic search and coding. Available anonymously.
