In the early eighteenth century, if a visitor had walked out of the East India Company’s Fort St George, at Madras, and proceeded southwards towards the village of Adyar, five miles or so away, he (or she) would have heard, successively, English spoken at the Fort [although Marathi more in its cutcheri (office)]; Armenian, Gujarati and Telugu in the neighbouring Black Town; Urdu, Persian and Dakhni at the court of the Nawabs of Arcot, but Sanskrit mantras at the very adjacent Sri Parthasarathi temple (one of the landmarks of Sri Vaishnavism in the region); Tamil shop-talk and less-exalted Sanskrit chanting at the lesser Mylapore temple; Portuguese in San Thome and then rather more rustic Tamil in the Mudaliar villages somewhat inland from it. -- David Washbrook, Intimations of Modernity in South India.

📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election
Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening.
“For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said.
Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned.
A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.

“Apparently, the solution to every crisis in 2026 is to hold a press conference about 1947. Our current Prime Minister has developed an extraordinary relationship with time. For every present failure, he takes you backwards. For every unfulfilled promise, he sends you to 2047. Fast fast forward. The only place he appears reluctant to stay is the present. And that, dear friends, is where you actually live.”

Thanks to WhatsApp University, Amma sitting here in Palakkad, thinks that Bengalis are finally able to celebrate Durga Pooja now, after being denied that right for all these years.
You can't just make up the levels of paranoid crap that keeps getting fed to people.

Have seen this so many times but it still seems incredible. A pack of Sanghis chasing and assaulting a young girl in the presence of police in central Delhi. This is the consequence of empowering Sanghi mobs over the last decade, normalised by anti Muslim bigotry.

People dont realise that 90% of anti riot tactics is literally pretending that 10 policemen are capable of dispensing hundreds of protesters.
If you shatter that illusion most times the whole scheme folds completely

"Rarely in the annals of Indian constitutional history have two key institutions, the Supreme Court of India and the Election Commission, acted in tandem with such shameless disregard for the constitutional purpose of their office, inflicting administrative cruelty on citizens and disenfranchising them."
