- are poor
- are from an ethnic minority
- live in areas of high air pollution
- live with a smoker
are more likely to die due to their asthma. 81% of deaths in the last 5 years were found to have had factors that could have been addressed, but weren't.

COPD has the largest difference in prevalence of major conditions between the richest and poorest. Respiratory conditions are absolutely central to any conversation about health inequalities.
