I hear plenty of noise online about what matchgoers ā€œoughtā€ to do to force change, most notably demands that we leave Old Trafford empty or throw missiles onto the pitch to stop games. If you don’t attend games regularly, it’s easy to look at things from a distance and assume it’s simply a matter of willpower. Here is the reality on the ground: 1. The ā€œBoycott / Empty Seatsā€ Myth - The money is already banked: Around 46,000 seats belong to Season Ticket holders who pay in advance in May and June—before the previous season has even finished. Whether an ST holder sits in that seat or stays home, the Glazers already have the cash. - Season ticket holders don’t control the stadium: If, on average, 20% of Season Ticket Holders forward or resell through official channels, you’re left with roughly half the stadium’s capacity. The remaining half of the capacity is filled by hospitality and general members paying premium prices, people who aren’t walking out or boycotting. - Strict attendance enforcement: Season Ticket holders must physically attend or officially transfer at least 16 out of 19 Premier League home matches. If you fail to hit that threshold, the club revokes your ticket for the following season. - You don’t create an empty stadium—you create a corporate one: With over 100,000 people on the waiting list and massive international tourism demand, any seat permanently vacated isn’t left empty. The club simply reclaims it and flips it into extortionate single-match membership prices or hospitality packages. - The European comparison doesn’t work: Pointing to Serie A or the Bundesliga ignores the fundamental economics. Many of those clubs have cheap tickets, standing sections, and 50+1 fan ownership models. Old Trafford operates in a hyper-commercialised, sold-out market. Asking a local supporter to sacrifice a seat their family has held for 20, 30, or 40 years, only for it to be sold to a tourist five minutes later, gives the owners zero financial leverage. 2. Throwing Objects onto the Pitch - It’s a specific criminal offence: Under the Football (Offences) Act 1991, throwing any missile onto the pitch or surrounding area is illegal. - It ruins lives, not ownership: Old Trafford is blanketed by modern high-definition CCTV and facial recognition. Anyone caught doesn’t just face a club ban; they face mandatory court-issued Football Banning Orders (FBOs), the surrender of their passport during European fixtures, a criminal record, and potential loss of employment. Furthermore, with modern automated flagging and blanket ticketing investigations, which have been very poor on United’s part, when disorder breaks out, bystanders and innocent people nearby often get swept up in the fallout, losing access to tickets while lengthy club appeals grind on. - Demanding that local matchgoers take on criminal records and jeopardise their livelihoods while you watch in a pub, on TV, or via an illegal stream isn’t a protest strategy; it’s completely detached from reality. What Non-Matchgoers Can ACTUALLY Do to Hit the Model: The club’s ownership model is built on one thing: commercial monetisation of the global audience. That is where you have direct leverage. - Hit the vanity metrics: Unfollow the club's official accounts on X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The club pitches these raw follower numbers to prospective commercial partners every day. - Direct consumer feedback to commercial partners: Brands invest heavily for positive sentiment. When supporters collectively make it clear across sponsor channels that partnering with negligent ownership carries a reputational cost, commercial teams take notice. - Starve the Megastore: Stop buying official kits, training apparel, and club subscriptions. If you want United gear, buy retro or support independent fan-made apparel. - Back fan-led advocacy: Support independent fan media, fanzines, and the Supporters Trust. Collective, legal, and political pressure moves the needle; reckless armchair advice does not. If we want change, it requires collective discipline across the entire fanbase—not asking matchgoers to commit financial or legal suicide just to make a 30-second point on television. There’s no divide here: it isn’t matchgoers versus non-matchgoers; it’s all of us. If we aren’t united, we achieve nothing, and that failure rests on every single Manchester United supporter. Well done to the lads in @TraMufc for their efforts with the balloons and to the crowd backing them with the chants. I believe match going fans are waking up finally. This kind of protest to keep going inside the ground. It will grow, it will get louder It’s more than apparent how fans feel about the ownership AND a new stadium. Now it’s time for the FF, FAB and @MU_ST to step up surely? You are supposed to represent every single one of those fans in the ground last night. When are you going to stand up and take action? When are you going to truly represent the fanbase? A dialogue over protest approach clearly doesn’t work. What’s next MUST? It is your role to be these desperate fans voices. You have the power to truly unite our fanbase….. USE IT!!! Do something…… anything

Champions league nights at old Trafford . Fantastic from the fans in stretford end with the green and gold balloons and then the tennis balls and pies. Good fight back in the second half from the team. Shea Lacey needs to start going forward. #glazersout #inesout

Looking forward to United hiring an independent third-party company to investigate who threw tennis balls onto the pitch, then banning everyone who didn't have one.

The 7 Man Utd fans that sit on the fan advisory board should tomorrow all Resign and say:- ā€œWe no longer have confidence in the club’s leadership and cannot continue to represent supporters under the current circumstances.ā€ Apply pressure @Drasdo @MUSTChair @dipsMUFC šŸ‘€ #mufc

If you know the premier league rules and also the football governance act then this would speak volumes if they did this .

Manchester United need to be freed of the yoke of the Glazers. That’s obvious. Been saying it since 2005. But how? It’s difficult to force regime change. A few United fans suggesting they’d welcome relegation as it would make the Glazers consider selling up. It might make them more likely to hold on as a PL club worth far more than EFL. A few fans suggesting a boycott of games - but why should loyal fans stop watching their team? And the club could simply get tourists in if a few games missed. A boycott of the megastore and catering is obvious (and already done by some fans) but that would also hit staff and temporary workers. Chants and banners make a point to the world how reviled the absentee Glazers are. But probably won’t worry the distant Glazers. They can point to money invested in transfers (and spent badly) but it’s not their personal money. It’s money generated by the fans. United have some very influential fans’ groups, fanzines, forums and pods. Would lobbying the Independent Football Regulator about whether the Glazers are ā€œfit and proper ownersā€ (in old parlance) have any effect? At the very least, there is a strong case for lobbying the IFR and Government about updating legislation to preclude debt-based takeovers (the IFR has an advisory role to Parliament). It’s certainly a national embarrassment that the most high-profile representative of the national sport has such substantial debt and such deeply unpopular owners associated with it. Sadly, like a stubborn stain, the Glazers will take some shifting. #MUFC

So here’s where we are at….. @The__1958 cannot fight this battle against the owners on their own, that’s plain to see. Unless ALL major supporters groups of MANCHESTER UNITED come together and start singing from the same song sheet then we are totally fucked. It’s a now or never moment in my opinion. it’s time for every supporters club, fan group and offical trust to work towards a greater good. Fuck dialogue with the club, it’s pointless and has been for years. I believe the only way forward is for the FAB and FF to cut the club off with a vote of no confidence. That’s the start. Then…. Let your feet do the talking, however that looks. Any details of protests, be it a walk out, sit in, boycott or whatever the plan may be will be utterly pointless unless everyone supports it. Thats the sad reality here, time to wake the fuck up or…… Enjoy Ratcliffe and the Glazers for the unforeseeable It’s up to you

Will our match going fanbase finally have the minerals to stand up and do what’s right?? Sunday was as toxic as I’ve ever heard it in OT. But that alone is not enough. Stand up and be counted? Time will tell I guess…..

**THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE SALOON** Our club have acted from day one as though the new stadium is already a done deal. Surveys built around theoretical scenarios, diluting the voices of the very people who fill Old Trafford and have devoted their lives to this club. There is a rot, a decay, a sense of hopelessness all due to the Glazers and Ratcliffe. They have sucked the life and dignity out of our club. **Make no mistake. We are at a crossroads** Act now or wave goodbye to the Manchester United you once knew. Over the coming weeks, we will lay out clear plans. Plans that demand **ACTION** And those actions will be down to **YOU, the fanbase.** Not The 1958. Not another supporters' group. Not somebody else. **YOU** You might not like us. You might think we should smash the place up or somehow empty a 75,000 seat stadium. We don't care what you think of us. It's all irrelevant. This is bigger than The 1958. Bigger than egos, personalities and petty differences. **Get behind the action or STFU when the club tramples all over you.** Stop waiting for somebody else to fight your battles. Because if we sit back and everything we've warned about becomes reality, don't start complaining that nobody did anything. **You were warned. You had a choice.** The plans will be crystal clear. The actions will be crystal clear. The question is whether enough Reds give a shit to follow through. **More to follow. Get your notifications on.** The 1958 šŸ‡¾šŸ‡Ŗ

The Man Utd executive team going back on what they said at the town hall meetings . You can stick your new stadium up your arse #glazersout #ineosout
Collete roach United chief operating officer said about making sure we were competing before looking to build any stadium. šŸ‘€ The money spent on land for it this summer should have been used towards the squad instead #glazersout #ineosout

Only positive today was more Utd fans being in unison and realising the issue is galzers ineos and the board. Big mistake by the club enforcing the steward to take the standards banner of the fans . Stick your new stadium up your arse. #glazersout #ineosout

Bloody hell. Thought these lot had gone into hibernation as not heard anything from them for ages . No substance to this message from must whatsoever. Means absolute fa. Bunch of self centred let me have the feet under the table. When are they going take action. šŸ‘€šŸ‘€
The club have started a new stadium survey and there have been a number of questions from supporters raised with us. In particular how will they ensure they can identify and verify match going supporters and break down between STHs, Members, Execs etc. This is an important point and no doubt many match going fans will have been asking the same question. There is significant distrust on this issue so we raised this with the club today. The club said that validation is done prior to analysis so they will weed out submissions by bots and fake accounts. So they will only include submissions from supporters using the custom link in the email or, for those who did not receive the email (including because of email preferences), they can use the website link and their submission will be validated using their supporter ID, name and email. They will then be able to segment the data based on supporter type. Only the first received submission from any validated supporter will be included. Obviously there are strong views held by many supporters on the new stadium project but hopefully this information is useful to those who were raising this question. Also, along with TRA and 1958 we requested that the results of the previous survey, in particular the new stadium vs redevelopment question, were published including the breakdown by supporter type and we're told this has now been done.

This is how much of a farce this survey is. Fake membership number and fake email. Straight in. Utterly useless
This is your opportunity to have your say on our future home šŸ”“ We want to hear more about what matters to you. We're launching the next phase of fan engagement for our proposed new stadium and we want to hear more about what matters to supporters.

Shows how out of touch MUFC leadership team are . Sending emails about a survey for the new stadium they want. They need 2 concentrate on fixing things on the pitch 1st and foremost and get Man Utd competing. Once that happens then just redevelop OT. #glazersout #ineosout

INEOS record at Man United: actively try to replace Ten Hag. Give Ten Hag new contract. Sack Ten Hag. Appoint Amorim. Worst league finish in over 50 years. Sack Amorim. Appoint the interim. Set to sack the interim. The positions of those decision-makers should now be untenable.

Embarrassing 30 minutes . Players walking . Making it look like a training game for Como. Also shows what happens when you have alignment from owners 2 Board, 2 football directors, 2managers + coaches and 2 players of what you want to achieve and a style of play. #ownersout
