There are only 2 items on this list that don't require begging a company for an account.
There are only a few items on this list that respect every nations & individuals sovereignty. (Hint they aren't the ones with U.S. in the title).
In short, there is no second best.
The Bitcoin whitepaper is short. The arguments around it are not.
Most people have an opinion about it. Far fewer have sat with the actual nine pages and asked the basic questions: what problem was it solving, what did it deliberately leave out, and who was it written for?

Meet @colmwanga , a Bitcoin open-source developer working with Rust, Lightning and payment security.
He contributes to OpenSwap, CDK and BTCPay Server, including Swahili translation.
By day, he cleans Nairobi; by night, he debugs Bitcoin!

Kenya’s central bank held its policy rate at 8.75% this week, with annual inflation at 6.8%.
For households, monetary policy isn’t abstract. It shapes borrowing, saving and prices.
Bitcoin offers different rules, not immunity from economic pressure.

It took us a little while, but the new Tando is finally HERE🔥
A fresh new look, and a better and faster overall experience. We’ve put a lot of thought and work into this and we’re so grateful to everyone who helped bring this new look to life (@_shams_ad @thetimileyin @waithiraah @proofofpaul )
Now it’s your turn to check it out! Update your Tando app here:

My Week in Bitcoin Development — A Small Fix, Some Big Lessons.
This week was quite a ride!
Spent a good part of it contributing to OpenSwap, fixing blocklist enforcement gaps across intermediate Legacy/Taproot swap hops and Lightning funding paths.
What looked like a straightforward security fix turned into a serious lesson in testing, patience, and engineering judgment.
The numbers? 495 passing tests, a clean rebase, and 11 more targeted regressions.
The plot twist? I initially spent hours testing the wrong Git branch. 😂
Then came the real lesson: one test proved a swap failed, but couldn't prove why.
So I deliberately introduced an unrelated failure.
The old assertions passed. The stronger ones caught it.
Biggest takeaway this week?
A green test suite doesn't necessarily mean you're testing the right things.
Good engineering isn't just about making code work. It's about questioning your assumptions and proving that things fail for the right reasons.
And as for the week's biggest lesson?
Green tests are nice. Tests that catch you lying to yourself? Priceless. 🦀⚡

A merchant accepting Bitcoin is good.
A merchant accepting Bitcoin and then paying another local business in Bitcoin is much more interesting.
Now the sats aren't simply arriving and immediately leaving through an exchange.
They're circulating.
Customer → shop → supplier → worker → another shop.
That's when Bitcoin starts behaving less like a speculative asset and more like local financial infrastructure.

PactAgent🤝
We’re exploring how AI agents can transact without giving the model control over private keys or money.
AI recommendation
→ deterministic policy
→ isolated signing
→ protocol action
Built around open Bitcoin-native protocols: Nostr for discovery and private coordination, and Cashu for bounded economic settlement.
The demo shows one reference workload, but PactAgent is designed for a broader world of machine-to-machine services.
Grateful for the learning, builders and open-source ecosystem around @bitshala_org, @btrust_builders and @CashuBTC. 🧡

#BREAKING 🚨 BOOOOM 💥💥
BITCOIN JUST HIT $86,000! This is a massive milestone, sending shockwaves through the market. The excitement is palpable, and you can feel the FOMO kicking in. Retail investors are waking up, and institutional players are getting even more serious about their allocations.
This jump not only shows resilience in a volatile market but also reaffirms Bitcoin’s status as digital gold. More eyes are on this space, and the narrative around sound money is gaining traction. Expect increased scrutiny and interest from mainstream media, as well as a potential influx of new participants looking to get their piece of the pie.
WE ARE SO EARLY! 🌟
Bitcoin is trading around $84,600 today, roughly 2% lower over the last 24 hours after touching above $87K.
And this is where HODLing gets misunderstood.
HODLing doesn't mean pretending volatility doesn't exist.
It means understanding that Bitcoin can move violently in the short term while its maximum supply remains 21 million.
Price changes.
The monetary rules don't.
South Africa’s draft rules: you can own Bitcoin, you just can’t buy bread with it.
Apparently the only thing more dangerous than inflation is a loaf paid for in sats🤷

Self-custody is often reduced to “hold your own keys.”
But the real system includes:
- secure key generation
- backups
- recovery testing
- device security
- inheritance planning
Owning the key is step one.
Being able to recover safely years later is what makes self-custody durable.
Tether froze nearly $550 Million in Iran-Linked USD₮
Not surprising at all and entirely to be expected.
But if you're cheering for this because the "good guys" froze assets belonging to the "bad guys" then you don't understand Bitcoin.
"Permissionless" and "uncensorable" are more than just fancy words.

Why would you tell all of your competitors exactly how much money you are making, and when, and in many cases, who your customers are!! 😱
Lightning transactions have way better privacy for businesses than unstablecoins on an open ledger. Stick to bitcoin.
