Seeing a pattern lately.
Employee uses Matter.
Changes jobs.
Gets the new company on @SlackHQ so they can use @MatterApp.
And recognition and rewards blossom.
1 in 3 employees hear a genuine thank you at work once a month or less.
Recognition isn’t rare because good work is rare. It’s rare because most workplaces never built the habit.

🤖 Made with AI
I wish this existed when I was younger.
Today, we’re launching an ambitious new school called The Horowitz Andreessen Academy.
Based in San Francisco, The Academy serves the most promising young high school graduates.
We think this can be an elite institution that attracts top tier talent. One that prepares students for the future rather than remaining stuck in the past.
The #1 goal is to help students learn to build, which is the most important skill in the AI era. They'll learn primarily by pursuing their own projects, either individually or in groups. There are classes and guest lectures, too, from some truly amazing people who have built modern-day Silicon Valley.
The Academy is designed as a network, since that’s the reason students go to school in the first place. Core to that network are our 10 Founding Partners: Anduril, Anthropic, Coinbase, Google, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Palantir, Replit, and Stripe. The network includes over 50 hiring partners and over 200 speakers and mentors. To join as a hiring partner or faculty member, you can apply on our website.
We raised $42M in funding led by @a16z. I'll be CEO and @pmarca and @eriktorenberg will join me on the board.
Applications are open for our Founding Class Fellowship, which will be one year and tuition-free. Eventually, pending regulatory approval, we plan to offer a two-year program that charges tuition, similar in cost to an elite private university.
We're looking for the most unusually ambitious young builders on the planet. Come join us in San Francisco:

So are folks really hiring less humans now?
@ICONIQCapital has the latest data:
- Folks growing > 100% a year are adding 133% headcount a year. They aren't cutting humans, even as they invest the most in AI
Everyone else is ... growing headcount more slowly than revenue
- Folks growing 50%-100% a year (still reasonably fast by pre-AI standards) are adding 25% headcount
- Folks growing 25%-50% only adding 10% headcount
- Folks growing < 25% a year aren't adding any headcount at all

If you’re smirking at Airtable’s acquisition, you have no idea how hard it is to build a business.

I tell all founders to Default Sell when they get a good offer
If they don’t, all good. We double down. All good. Easy to double down as VC. And founders know the future best.
But at least someone told them to think about it for real.
Last week I learned that asking tw for a Webflow developer referral is essentially pointing a spam cannon directly at your own face and pulling the trigger. Very grateful. Slightly concussed. 🤣
claude desktop has an update every time i open it. the ai can write software but can’t update itself while i’m asleep?

I have no doubt there will be many well-written social media posts condemning the antisemitic stabbings on the Upper West Side today, and I’m sure many people’s thoughts and prayers will be with the victims and their families.
But these statements ring hollow when so many in the city normalize antisemitism, including simply by associating American Jews with the actions of the Israeli government.
Enough is enough.

Anyone have a quality Webflow developer they'd vouch for? We have new designs ready and need someone to build them out (no design work, just development). DMs open.

I love prediction markets, but I worry they've confused young people about how the stock market and American economy work overall
Prediction markets are zero-sum. In the end: winners pay out losers, no net value is created
They have their place: prediction markets forecast outcomes better than polling & allow contrarians to monetize truth-seeking
But the stock market, capitalism, and the American economy are absolutely not a zero-sum game
Our economy is not a poker table where your win has to necessarily come at someone else’s loss
When someone invents the impossible, unlocks resources previously unavailable, finds a more efficient way…
Or at the grandest scale: opens up an entire new frontier, like space:
That adds so many new chips to the table. And without taking from anyone else’s chipstack

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), in concession speech: “Jews have given back so much to this country. As history has taught us, antisemitic tropes and stereotypes, some of which I heard personally on this campaign, will ultimately be the undoing of our democracy if we all don’t lean in and speak out — even if it’s not politically expedient.”
.@HeyOyster support ticket, 24 hours, urgent, unresolved. Can you please help?
