A lot of the atheists I spoke to for my documentary 'The Cost of Being an Atheist' said Nigeria made them irreligious. A country as religious as it is, rife with inequality, poverty, corruption, violence, injustice etc etc. It didn't add up to for them.
“One of the funniest phenomena in this world to me is a Nigerian Atheist, I don’t know how you can be in Nigeria and become atheist” —— David Teminijesu

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sway. 🕊️ In 2005, he made MOBO history, beating global heavyweights including 50 Cent and The Game to win Best Hip-Hop Act - a huge moment for Sway and UK Hip Hop. Proud to have him as part of our history. Our love goes out to his family, loved ones and fans. ❤️

Today is my last day as Africa Correspondent for the BBC in Johannesburg. My posting has been localised as part of the BBC’s savings cuts and I’m moving back to London. The last 8 years spent reporting on the continent have been the pride of my life. As a little girl in the Ivory

Honoured to sit down with the brilliant @briticoyemo of @BBCNews to put a spotlight on Northern Nigeria's banditry - a crisis that demands more than just military solutions. My key takeaway? This isn't just a security failure, it's a governance and livelihood failure too. youtube.com/watch?v=pMg3KZGL…

Ride-hailing giant @Uber exits Nigeria after 12 years Uber, the US-based ride-hailing company that operates in eight African countries, is winding down its operations in Nigeria, marking its exit after twelve years. “We are writing to share some difficult news,” Uber said in an email to customers on Wednesday. “After a thorough review of our business, we have made the tough decision to wind down our operations in Nigeria, effective 2 September 2026.” Uber’s exit ends a 12-year run in Nigeria, one of its earliest markets, where it launched in 2014. The company helped build the country’s ride-hailing market, but is leaving as intensifying competition, rising operating costs, and growing regulatory pressure have made the market harder to navigate.
