Disgusting that 60 Minutes would hire Ross Douthat, a long-time promoter of chronic Lyme health fraud. 60 Minutes exposed the chronic Lyme scam in 2005. Where's the justice for Katherine Bibeau and Michael Bate?

A million Americans d!ed during the pandemic. When we discuss the failures of the American response, of which there were many, that feels like to me the greatest failure of them all.

Nightmare fuel: Clot in transit isn’t moving forwards because the right ventricle is *already* failing and there is a lot of tricuspid regurgitation😩 The term ‘clot in transit’ can be ambiguous because it spans a broad range of disease severity (from small clots to large ones)

This case illustrates common error in the treatment of drug-induced Torsades. A patient presents with drug-induced Torsades, most commonly methadone or dofetilide. They get treated with a bolus of 2-4 grams IV magnesium sulfate and get better. What happens 4-6 hours later? The magnesium wears off (mostly excreted in the urine). Meanwhile, the methadone or dofetilide is still there (it has a much longer half-life than IV magnesium bolus). So the patient has another episode of Torsades. ☠️ I'm tempted to call this an "error" but it's so commonly done that it's basically the standard of care. So perhaps the term "mishap" is more reasonable. Repeat episodes of drug-induced Torsades can be prevented using a protocoled magnesium infusion. We started using this about a decade ago. It's safe and easy to do. It makes these cases really boring. The patient sits around on a Mg infusion for 24 hours allowing Mg to soak into their cardiomyocytes while the methadone/dofetilide levels fall. (#1/2)

"The July 10, 1989 tornado event produced at least 17 tornadoes across the northeastern United States. The two strongest tornadoes were rated as F4s - the Schoharie County, NY tornado and the Hamden-New Haven, CT tornado."
🌪️ 37 years since the Cornwall to Hamden/New Haven tornado. It was an exceptional supercell that many of us still remember all these years later. Here's some of the meteorology behind the storm: ryanhanrahan.substack.com/p/…

""Excited delirium" is a contested label often invoked when someone dies during police restraint. California has barred it. UK police have dropped it. Yet the term — and its successor, "acute behavioural disturbance" — runs through more than 20 coroners' reports."

Reminded here of Pauline Maier's case that the veneration of the Founders and founding documents amounts to "a functional Catholicism for a Protestant country."

I went to @smithcollege with Emily and she does know a thing or two about corruption. I remember when she took the Praxis stipend meant to fund a summer internship and bought a Burberry coat with it.
The editors of the world's most prestigious medical journals are sounding the alarm, and nobody is listening. "We have peer reviewed, high impact editors in most of the journals that are the most high impact, saying that they don't believe what is being published in those journals is trustworthy anymore." "The BMJ, The Lancet, all of those editors have come out and said, we have a huge problem. We can't replicate this research and we actually don't even know who did the research." "Everywhere we've looked for corruption, we've found it." Emily Kaplan, co-founder of the Broken Science Initiative. @broken_science

How come the New York Times doesn't launch a beat dedicated to Puerto Rican life, I ask, disingenuously. It must be because the USA has so many Jewish citizens but so few Puerto Rican ones, right?
.@nytimes is launching its first-ever beat dedicated to Jewish American life, with the talented @Yair_Rosenberg covering it. I can think of no one better equipped with the experience and intelligence to report fairly about our community. Kol HaKavod to Yair. There's so much wrong with the New York Times coverage, glad to see a step in the right direction. jta.org/2026/06/29/united-st…

Absolutely: — Focus on fabric weight and weave, as lightweight fabrics made with a porous weave will breathe better — Consider linen shirts, as these will wick moisture from your skin and keep you dry — Advocate for affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods, as this will reduce our dependence on cars and thus oil — Ask local leaders to plant trees along sidewalks, as these will lower temps — Vote for politicians who support green policies — Pay attention to shape and drape, as your silhouette will have to do more when you're not layering — Consider accessories, such as jewelry

BBC goes with "both sides" and it's just Israel massacring over a thousand Palestinians they keep in cage.
