It’s smarter faster and more reliable - just gets whatever task done. I don’t know why Codex has been so much worse lately - especially speed and reliability-wise. Many random stalls, it just stops working out of nowhere many times, long tasks often need to be restarted in a clear context because compaction is bad and it spins on some random side problem - this has been in general a huge problem with Codex for me, Claude seems to do way better in compaction so long threads never lose quality. And the safety guard rails… I never run into those with Opus 5.5 despite having no cyber on Claude and I have cyber on Codex. All of this is with frontier models only - 6.1 Sol or Astra And very recently ultra fast is broken for me too, it stalls a lot, really slow while burning more usage in some tasks. Doesn’t feel as fast as it was on launch.

Unfortunately not doable since boot loader is locked on iPads. On Mac, you have ability to run unsigned kernels and raw boot objects

I believe it would work, yeah. I've been running 4k120 via TB5 dock in TB4 mode (since M2 Pro supports that much). I also have accessories like drives and Ethernet hooked up through it, so that's expected to work as well Unlike fairydust, you should be able to hotplug displays and it should just work.

the slop conversation is so one sided, it's not just that you can produce more code you can also observe, debug, and refactor more code even if the code is slop you have such good tools to deal with it. even if you write code manually, it's still 100x easier to maintain it

Interesting. Not sure why Apple would do that, they leave the boot loader open on Macs, and I'm pretty sure it will stay that way I even have this crazy idea of putting Linux on APFS root, lol. Definitely not a good idea to do this on any production system, but fun to try. We could make use of FileVault that way, it's much more secure by design since the NVMe controller handles AES inline.

As the exclusive sponsorship begins, another big thank you to @Omarchy's Omacom Foundation for sponsoring Hyprland for 3 years!! This will allow Hyprland to smoothly continue development for the coming years and bring more and more hypr into linux. omarchy.org

Indeed, it works like TPM but better. Right now we expose fprintd and keyctl interfaces powered by SEP. Touch ID is really secure since the sensor is paired with SEP and can’t be tampered with, their entire comms which we relay are encrypted. Keys are like opaque blobs that SEP can seal/unseal on demand. It also exposes hardware RNG. It has more stuff like FileVault but that seems to be tightly integrated with APFS. I did get FileVault working with a new APFS read/write driver, so that will be mainline in future. You’d be able to access macOS storage. And well, option to delete macOS safely to free up storage is also coming 😆

The drivers are clean room and open source. I don’t think we need docs for this, but would prefer writing a blog about this and some upcoming stuff I’m excited about. Haven’t personally worked on any of the BCM drivers; Neo uses MediaTek radio, and M5 / later are Apple N1, both of which we do have a driver for

Touch ID support for Linux on Apple Silicon is finally shipping soon! It’s been a while since I got Secure Enclave driver working, huge props to @SiliconForested & team for taking over and making it reliable and work across more machines. Also wouldn’t have been possible without all the other contributors who tried it on early and submitted PRs. We’re also shipping more complete Thunderbolt support & hot-pluggable external displays and all sorts of accessories, building on top of Asahi’s incredible basic USB4/Thunderbolt support. This is JUST the beginning. Much more exciting stuff coming. All new Macs are getting covered as we speak. Long-standing issues like power management are also being tackled.
I've never been more excited to hit merge on a PR than I was for this one. 🎉 It took 15 people on five continents to get here. @jondkinney kept a branch alive for almost a year. @tiredkebab's fork pushed the idea further. Then came a lot of long conversations with @maralcbr and @bi9kahuna to get it over the line. Major props to the rest of the Omarchy M team who helped in various ways as well: @martiano @riverleaf88 @buildwithdjdev @RyanTheTide @Acelogic_ @LiamRay1O @ewninjaofficial @jaidipsubedi @JoshuaSWarren @shawnyeager @novuon_ai Thank you all. This one's special, and lays important groundwork.

Congrats to the team! A bit sad to see the runtime go. It was incredible engineering I’ve followed and used for a long time since early days.
