Hardware seems to be in pretty good shape now š„³
Pi to arduino communication solid
ROS can see lidar scan messages
Encoder ticks from the wheels are good
We ready to āØattempt⨠SLAM š£ļøš£ļø
Will need to get better wheels ofc and voice recognition still needs work so turn down your volume lol

robotics will not explode like ChatGPT.
robotics is a:
1. models problem (YC hivemind overindexes on this)
2. supply chain problem (china FTW)
3. infrastructure problem
this means that the adoption curve will be a lot more gradual.
my favourite robotics companies are that see the bigger picture.

Happy Pythagorean Theorem Day!
10/24/26
10² + 24² = 26²
This is the last one weāll experience in our lifetime.

I literally only built harnext so you never have to depend on claude code

If your planner dies, your robot can keep executing the last command it received. Thatās a problem in safety critical robotics systems.
General code review models catch a lot, but they usually miss the robotics-specific safety stuff (stale commands, missing watchdogs, actuator limits, real-time bugs).
So I built a Claude skill to check for those!! ā¬ļø

Robotics has a scaling problem that language models skipped.
With LLMs, more data and compute mostly just worked.
With robots, a new embodiment or a new environment can break the previous scaling curve.
How do you even define a scaling law when the physical world keeps changing the rules?

I was able to replicate 70% of sf including hills in a PS1 retro style game base. Will release it to the public soon!
playable in isometric and first person. You can be dropped at any address. Godot compatible, no web slop!
The new tesla update is so cool, the navigation has picked up on my routine and gets where iām headed right almost every time
Helping out at a health fair today. Seeing people come together to help others makes me extra glad I get to work in healthtech š
Need Ben Affleckās take on sim-to-real next
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAIās video models
āIāve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that.
āWith convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at whatās called a tensor. Thatās the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. Itās just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor.
āYouād use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal whatās called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something.
āThat was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. Iāve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, āHey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.ā
āIāve learned that I can actually just call up and go, āHey, itās Ben Affleck. Can I come see what youāre doing?ā Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.ā
