U.C.’s SAT debate isn’t about testing. It’s about two entirely different definitions of equity.

To everyone watching the surge in far-left violence across the West and telling themselves it cannot get worse: I am old enough to remember when organized left-wing terror groups were killing, kidnapping, and bombing across Europe and America. The 1970s and 1980s are worth a quick revisit.
In West Germany, the Marxist-Leninist Red Army Faction (Baader-Meinhof) and the Revolutionary Cells carried out hundreds of bombings, arson attacks, and bank robberies over some 25 years, wounding hundreds and killing dozens. In September 1977, Baader-Meinhof ambushed Hanns Martin Schleyer, one of Germany’s top industrialists, murdered his driver and three police officers, held him for 43 days, then killed him.
In Italy, the Marxist-Leninist gang Red Brigades carried out assassinations, kneecappings, and kidnappings over 20 years, killing nearly fifty people. In 1978 they kidnapped former prime minister Aldo Moro, killed his five bodyguards, and left his body in a car trunk after 54 days.
In Spain, GRAPO, another Marxist-Leninist group, killed more than 80 people, including a notorious 1979 cafe bombing in Madrid. It used kidnappings to attack the state and later raise money. Its highest profile victims were the president of the Council of State and a top military general.
In France, Action Directe, a self-described “libertarian communist urban guerrilla” group, carried out more than 80 bombings. Its leaders were convicted of assassinating General René Audran in 1985 and Renault CEO Georges Besse in 1986.
In America, the Weather Underground claimed roughly two dozen bombings, including the Capitol and the Pentagon. Their bombs killed no one but their own members—three in a Greenwich Village townhouse in 1970—until 1981, when remnants joined the Black Liberation Army in the Brink’s robbery. A guard and two police officers died.
These groups did not emerge from nowhere. They began inside much larger movements of protest marches, campus organizing, and anti-war activism. Small cells decided that talking had failed, that the state was illegitimate, and that violence was the only remaining language. They were few in number but they did real damage.
The grievances of the 1970s were not identical to today’s. The mechanics of escalation, though, are similar. When political anger, economic frustration, and a sense of moral emergency pile up, it only takes a handful of people to break away and treat armed confrontation as the next logical step. History shows it has happened before. The question is whether it will happen again.

One the things that became clear to me when I started reviewing the research on feedback (now 30 years ago!) was the importance of "leaving the learning with the learner" rather than correcting and providing another example to work on.

Inaccettabile. The rioters forced the gates and occupied the Colosseum. Shocked tourists, the image of Rome destroyed around the world. After the attack on the Duomo a week ago, now they hit the symbol of Italy. And now? Where do we want to go?

The Hill just published an op-ed defending Qatar without divulging that its author, William Bennett, is a registered foreign agent of Doha.
This should be illegal, with serious consequences for the outlets, agents, and foreign principals that fail to disclose this

Francia está perdida.
So I teach at university. The number of PARENTS I’ve had to deal with this semester is absolutely astounding.
That number should be zero. I owe parents absolutely NOTHING. Your children are full ass, legal adults.
We’ve completely lost the plot..

Why do your college professors leave out the part where the Arabs used starvation as a method of war against the Jews in 1948 to murder or expel them from Jerusalem?
The Arabs sealed the Jewish Quarter, cut off their water supply, and attacked every supply convoy attempting to bring food and water.
Rations ran out, and the Old City was surrendered on May 28.

French shopkeepers have formed their own militias today.
Armed with bats, they have gathered friends and male family members to defend their stores.
The police told them to hire private security as “the police can’t be everywhere”

Up to a third of students in UC Berkeley nuclear engineering classes arrive unprepared in math, per the department’s own faculty.
They asked UC to bring back the SAT/ACT for 2027. UC says it will bring it back Fall 2028 at the earliest.

🚨This is existential.
“Ethnic Studies Council @ UC” wants to “dezionize” the @UofCalifornia. Its model: denazification.
It targets Zionists on campus.
Most Jews are Zionists.
That’s your kids’ Jewish professors.
That’s us.

In 1992, 69% of eighth graders scored Basic or above on NAEP reading, a figure statistically indistinguishable from 2024's 67%. How did the 1992 cohort do in later life? They earned college degrees in record numbers, created vast innovation that continues to change lives, and are part of an economy that is the envy of the world. Yet the chattering classes insist that they should have scored proficient on NAEP.
