As an autistic person, I may cry and my voice might shake when I ask why something is happening. That does not mean I am ‘unstable’ or ‘toxic’ It means that I am genuinely confused. Honestly and genuinely confused. I am not playing games. I am not manipulating a situation.

Apart from the hay fever, the constant sweat, the sunburn, the lack of sleep, the wasps, the bug bites, the baking hot car, the 3am sunrise, the non-stop disco from next door’s garden, the yellow lawn, the heat rash, the absence of air con and the complete lack of energy… I’m actually a big fan of Summer.

A sad tale of endangered crafts, most of which have survived many centuries but still have a key place in today's digital & virtual world to say nothing of being at the heart of sustainability. Congrats @heritagecrafts for keeping the conversations live and current @jayblades_
It's been two years of waiting and six months of intensive research led by Endangered Crafts Manager Mary Lewis and funded by @ThePilgrimTrust, but the 2023 edition of the Red List of Endangered Crafts is out! heritagecrafts.org.uk/redlis… @jayblades_ @RoyalMintUK #craftsredlist2023

Are you #ActuallyAutistic and feel tired often, even when you haven't done anything "tiring"? You're not alone. It IS exhausting just being autistic in a neurotypical world. You're not broken. Help spread this message and reach those who think they're alone and reply below!

A few ways Autists and ADHD’ers may express romantic and platonic love 🖤

ALT A pale pink visual slide with a list of autistic and ADHD love languages, in black, each with a corresponding black illustration. The love languages mentioned are: gifting you things you like, sharing their interests with you, researching things you like, helping you with things, parallel play and body doubling, asking you questions, spending time with you, infodumping and deep pressure hugs.

Them: Why were you fine before your autism diagnosis, but you're suddenly struggling now.
Me: I wasn't fine. Like at all. I was struggling. A lot. More than I even realized. But now, I understand my struggles a whole lot more and I'm not trying to hide them anymore.

Replying to @ItsEmilyKaty @AutisticGirls_
That they lack empathy. The opposite - too much empathy, seeing multiple viewpoints at once, automatically standing in everyone's shoes. It is perceived as lack empathy by NTs because the autistic person doesn't take THEIR side, rather no sides, waiting for wisdom, if it comes.

Rishi Sunak’s maths idea is 100% dead cat. Still, I loved maths and did it to A level. But why compulsory maths to 18 rather than compulsory art or music?

It can be a challenge pinning down the precise route rural postmen walked. Each had a route information card (see pic of Shap #Cumbria route) naming every farm and house but few of these survive. I'd love to hear from any local history archives that have their local route cards.

24th Window. Christmas Eve. Everyone was asleep, apart from Old Fox, who'd stayed up to greet the Old Gentleman of the North & the Newcomer. Together, they stood for a little while in that ancient cottage, drinking hot possets & eating sugar plums, a blessed meeting without time.

The Old Gentleman of the North had been making lists since Midsummer. Lists of the lonely, of the poor, of those without family, without friends, without hope, and whilst he couldn't change very much, he would do what he could, when the snows came & the stars were as cold as ice.

Advent Sunday & Old Fox had taken a tangled wreath of holly & laurel leaves to the Sheep Church, a Chapel of Ease up on the Downs, a lonely, wild place close to the sea. He lit the first candle & the light was golden in the shadows. For hope, he told the ghosts there, for hope.

Overwhelm. It's hard to convey the feeling as your brain starts shutting down, replacing coherent thought with 'GET AWAY, ESCAPE, MAKE IT STOP!' at a visceral level. Whatever is going on is exceeding my brain's ability to process and it will crash.
