Knowing the remake can never give us this scene kills me. 💔 This dance was never in the books. The books gave us a month of silence, of Harry and Hermione not even looking at each other after Ron left. The movies gave us THIS. A cold tent in the middle of nowhere. A broken radio playing Nick Cave's O Children. Two 17-year-olds who have lost everything - no home, no family, no plan, their best friend just walked out. And for three minutes they don't cry. They dance. Harry pulls Hermione up not because it's romantic, but because if they don't move, they'll drown in how hopeless it all is. Look at her face buried in his shoulder. Look at him holding her hand like he's holding the only thing keeping him human. Daniel and Emma had 10 years of friendship by then. You can't recast that. You can't remake 10 years of growing up together on screen. A new Harry and Hermione can be brilliant, can be book-accurate, can be amazing - but they will never have THIS history. The HBO show will be more faithful. It will have SPEW and the proper backstories and the scenes the movies cut. But it will never have this dance. Because this dance only exists because David Yates saw two kids who were exhausted and sad and said "just dance, forget the script for a minute." And we got the most human moment in all of Deathly Hallows out of it.
