#ESMO26 PROTEUS discussion by Nicholas van As • No baseline PSMA PET; enrolled conventionally staged M0 • MFS events: true progression or delayed detection? Most were PSMA PET-detected (8.8% vs 16.3%) • TTST HR 0.29, but ~20-mo lead-time bias #ProstateCancer

No doubt in my mind that @myESMO #ESMO26 is now eclipsing @ASCO. An incredible variety of nations represented and massive attendance numbers. Everyone welcomed, unlike in the US now, where many anti-Trump Europeans can’t realistically enter the country.

#Norway’s Sovereign wealth fund is the dagger to the heart of Thatcherism. She sold off the family silver for a short term boom. Now we are suffering a long-term bust. nbim.no/en/

NEW Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund… As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain. Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war. The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing? That's right, almost nothing. Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady. Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive. Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion. I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner. But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."

Pathetic, weak, self interested and a total embarrassment to a once great Country.
Witkoff to Putin: “You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian -- you are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.”

Trump’s envoy to Putin. One of the most sickening things I’ve ever seen. Future generations will scarcely believe America fell this low, if it ever recovers.

There is no level of moral degradation to which members of the Trump Administration are unwilling to descend. None.

#Trump has now blatantly and openly gone all in behind #Putin, because Putin understands that Trump may now be at the apex of his powers, and about to tank at mid terms. He is squeezing the most he can out of Trump whilst he still has serious power.

#Trump is America’s biggest traitor of all time, and particularly dangerous because 30% of the population remain wedded to him as their cult leader. Never in Putin‘s wildest imagination could he have envisaged how far Trump has succeeded in bringing down the United States.

Hague is demonstrably correct. Going to say it again. The fact there are still people on the right lashing themselves to and venerating Trump is incomprehensible.
William Hague declares Trump the worst president of his lifetime, and struggles to see how anyone could have a different opinion. “This mishandling of world affairs … is the most serious development and negative development in the world since the Second World War.“ @StigAbell | @WilliamJHague

This is a talking point straight off the deranged Russian state evening television. How shameful. America has lost its mind, and its place in the world order.
Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

I’m proud of my Twitter timeline. I’ve been a critic of #Trump long before his first term, and I was f**king right about the narcissistic corrupt traitor from day one! I love the US and I’m keen to meet up with US friends, but will have to wait a few more years before I return!

Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary: "I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities. "We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down. "In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States." xitter.cf/breeallegretti/status/…

🔥 Max Hastings gives Trump both barrels and not before time. Trump made 30,573 false or misleading claims during his first term. Now the lying, bullying and grotesque inversion of truth have become instruments of government, while billionaires and political courtiers compete for seats at his table. The victims are the Ukrainian people being bombed, betrayed and blamed while Trump appeases Putin. Hastings is right: democracies must stop treating industrial-scale dishonesty as background noise. “This is a lie” must become our collective reply.
