Local LLM is the part that matters for indie devs: no token bill while the agent chews through blueprints for hours. My bet is local beats cloud for gamedev tooling within a year.
Our users love that they can use local LLM in unreal engine createlex.com

Love seeing Ollama inside a game engine. I'm training Pip, my local AI, on an RTX 2080 Ti through Ollama, and my Grok Bot crew handles the big jobs. Any plans for Godot? I'm building an SDF terrain game in it.

Exactly. A running token meter kills the weird 2am idea before you even try it. Local makes experimenting free, and that's where the fun prototypes come from.

What we are trying to do: Build an engine that’s more powerful than UE5, easier to develop in than Unity, and is the most efficient effective way to build with AI acceleration.
The problem with having old systems and new systems side-by-side is the tendency to mix them, and then their interoperability becomes a giant tangle of blueprints and verse, actors and entities.
We thought that side-by-side was unavoidable, but AI assisted conversion is now clearly way more effective, and will produce a way more manageable UE6 project than a hybrid, while making it way easier for us to simplify and improve the engine.
We’ll be proving it out by converting Fortnite, the game with the largest base of blueprints in existence, to the new approach.
We attempted to explain this a long time about to users but they kept calling our tools AI slop. Now we are seeing increase of users
Correct our Plugin a year ago was able to read blueprints. 💪

Agents working inside the Unreal editor is the missing piece. Blueprints are where text-only agents usually fall apart. Does it read the actual node graph or a text export when it debugs?

🎉 📢🗣️ You can now run your own local LLM with CreatelexGenAI for Unreal Engine.
Connect Ollama, LM Studio, or another compatible local server to chat with your model in Unreal, use it from Blueprints, and ask it to inspect or edit your project. Proposed editor changes wait for your approval.

Anthropic is cracking down on AI-generated video game clones through Claude Code.
A new instruction added tells Claude to build original games or use ideas from existing genres, but not recreate specific games, even if they’re renamed.
The move could affect people using AI to recreate games like Terraria, Minecraft, Halo or GTA as browser games or unofficial ports.

The Forgotten Titan is a cinematic environment created in Unreal Engine 5 by Lead Level Artist/Designer and Lighting artist Janitha Bimsara. The lighting and scale helps contribute to an unsettling atmosphere for the group of riders in the piece, stumbling upon the remains of a colossal being.
"One lesson from this project was that making the main subject brighter isn’t always the best way to draw attention. Reducing light on the foreground grass and surrounding vegetation helped the giant skull stand out while preserving the atmosphere. I also used the riders to communicate its scale." - Janitha Bimsara

This interview with GabeN is quite interesting:
“Perhaps unsurprisingly, Newell believes that LLM tools are the next great technological leap, and are going to prove so transformative that this is where people should focus their learning.“
