Italy's Defense Minister Guido Crosetto: Russia attacked Ukraine, it attacked Crimea, Georgia, if we want to go further back, Afghanistan. So in the Russian mentality, there is the idea of attacking in order to occupy. Most of the Russian budget goes toward investments in weapons or the military. They will reach 1.5 million military personnel. So if the war ended tomorrow, what would Putin do with 1.5 million soldiers? He himself would face internal problems if he stopped the war tomorrow morning. And this gives me the impression, since he continues to accelerate, that he would not want to stop in Ukraine. This is Europe's concern, especially the concern of the Eastern European countries closest to Russia. And that is why, as Europe and NATO, we are preparing - @GuidoCrosetto

Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

This is truly a historic moment. President Trump has indefinitely suspended sanctions against Russia that would have been required in the Graham law. He went against the last request of Lindsey Graham, whom he called his friend. And he handed Putin the opportunity to finance the war against Ukrainians, who are fighting for their freedom. Trump calls this a "national interest." But diesel prices went up because of his war against Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. So waiving sanctions on Russia does not solve that problem. Instead, it creates another one. Putin cannot win on the battlefield, so he attacks civilians. Russian missiles and drones are destroying homes, hospitals, schools, and churches. According to the UN, just two weeks of October have been among the deadliest for civilians in Ukraine in recent years. Forty percent of Russia's budget goes to the war. After Trump's latest decisions, Russia will make record profits. The formula is simple: "Money turns into missiles. Missiles turn into civilian deaths." Trump is not stopping Russia's war against Ukraine. Trump is helping Putin win it. As a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, I want to address the people of America, regardless of their political views. Do you really believe that the killing of millions of people and the loss of Ukraine's independence are in your national interest? If not, what will you do to stop America from financing the genocide that Putin is waging against Ukrainians with Trump's support? #StandWithUkraine

Luglio 2026.

It has been a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people as the Minister of Defense. Here is what our team managed to achieve: 1. Disabled Starlink access for Russian forces. 2. Took over a Ministry of Defense with zero budget, took a risk, reallocated funds from payroll from the end of the year, and effectively invested them in mid-strike capabilities, fiber-optic FPVs, low-cost reconnaissance, ground robotic platforms, interceptor drones, and deep-strike drones. 3. Launched "Logistical Lockdown", this cut off enemy logistics and initiated the isolation of Crimea. 4. Continued the funding program for the Drone Line. 5. Launched a support program for modern drone-assault units that rely primarily on advanced technologies in combat. 6. Introduced a 70% advance payment policy for procurements made via e-Points on the Brave1 Market portal. 7. Fundamentally overhauled the procurement system. 8. Procured thousands of pickup trucks, buggies, and ATVs for the military for the first time—and did so through open tenders. 9. The drone interception rate rose from 83% to 91%, and the cruise missile interception rate soared from 47% to 87%. 10. Contracted Patriot PAC-2 GEM-T missiles for the first time, and submitted an application through an EU loan to purchase PAC-3 missiles. 11. Launched a baseline drone supply system for brigades and corps. 12. Launched a massive grant program for manufacturers of explosives and missiles. 13. Initiated an unpopular but vital transformation of the military. 14. Conducted three UDCG meetings, where we successfully broke through the Russian information trap claiming our defeat, restoring partners' faith in Ukraine. This secured $40 billion in support announced for this year (excluding the EU loan). 15. Launched the mechanism to utilize the EU loan for our military priorities. 16. Found a way to scale cheap missiles against jet-powered Shaheds and signed a record-breaking contract. 17. Our domestic ballistics. We radically revised the technical specifications, maximized accuracy, and reduced the cost by 30%. 18. Signed a contract to procure Gripen fighter jets. 19. Collaborated with the military to plan and execute Operation Auchan, which halted the enemy's mechanized offensive for six months. 20. Opened up exports under the Drone Deal program to attract investment and scale up domestic defense-industrial complex (OPK) production. 21. Launched the Trophy Lab, providing partners with the opportunity to study captured Russian military technologies. 22. Launched the Defense AI Center A1 to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence on the battlefield. Thank you to my entire team for their relentless 24/7 service. A special thank you to my family for their patience. Thank you all for your support! I will continue to work toward the mission I originally brought to the Ministry of Defense: defeating the enemy through asymmetry, the speed of innovation, and the power of organization. To be continued.

Secondo me no, non è un miglioramento sostanziale. E soprattutto: i russi sono rimasti poveri.

I hate when someone brings up the “they bombed Donbas for 8 years” and I have to dig up the video of prigozhin saying it’s bs.
The only thing that comes to mind is the Ukrainian Civil War where current Kyiv’s regime was bombarding and killing civilians in Donbas
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ukraine was not attacking civilians in the Donbas. ukraine.un.org/sites/default/… icj-cij.org/sites/default/… This is Russian disinformation. euvsdisinfo.eu/report/ukraini… aspeniaonline.it/russian-disinf…

This weekend in Bologna 🇮🇹, the “RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes” festival was held, organised by Russia Today — Vladimir Putin’s main propaganda outlet. This is not mere “Kremlin narratives” but outright military propaganda in its purest form. To our great regret, Italy remains a favourite platform for Russian propaganda. We have already seen numerous attempts by Putin’s agents to infiltrate European cultural and information spaces via Italian venues. Yet the event in Bologna made no attempt whatsoever to pass itself off as culture. Pro-war Russian Telegram channels have been proudly boasting about screenings of the film Bloody Puppets of the West. The title alone tells you everything: this has nothing to do with exploring the tragedy of war or trying to understand the conflict. It is literally a quote straight from the mouths of Putin’s propagandists. What makes this all the more depressing is that the families of Putin’s closest friends and supporters continue to live very comfortably in Italy, owning villas and building influence networks. These assets have still not been seized, despite the sanctions already imposed and the investigations carried out by Italian journalists: linkiesta.it/2025/08/matvien…

Correct. Our war.
PM Starmer: This is, of course, a fight for Ukraine's future and sovereignty, but it's also a fight for Europe and for the United Kingdom. And therefore, this isn't simply an act of us working with Ukraine solely for Ukrainian benefit. We are working with Ukraine for Ukraine, of course, but also for the benefit of all the rest of us.
