Most decentralized AI projects have built GPU networks. Far fewer have managed to turn that infrastructure into products people can actually use. $CNX is taking that next step with the launch of Crynux AI Services and Crynux Chat. The team has spent the past few years building a permissionless compute network powered largely by consumer GPUs and edge devices. It supports AI inference and fine-tuning, with a verification system called vssML designed to keep distributed workloads accountable. vssML uses secret sampling and cryptographic checks to verify a subset of completed tasks rather than requiring every workload to be independently re-executed multiple times. The goal is to reduce verification overhead to roughly 10% of workloads, compared with the much higher compute costs of traditional multi-execution verification. Now, Crynux is putting that infrastructure to practical use. Two products are going live: Crynux AI Services: An OpenAI-compatible API. Developers can switch the base URL and continue using familiar integration patterns. Crynux Chat: A consumer-facing interface that lets everyday users interact with models running on the network. Free credits and a referral program are also part of the rollout. That is a sensible move. A decentralized compute network needs paying workloads, not just more GPU operators joining the supply side. Without consistent demand, the economics of keeping nodes active become difficult to sustain. Crynux's token design also ties a significant portion of emissions to completed tasks, connecting rewards more closely to actual network activity. There are still challenges. Consumer GPUs vary widely in performance, model availability may lag behind leading centralized providers, and attracting users who return regularly is much harder than getting initial sign-ups.
