Years ago they mostly *were* about data, just storing web pages and databases for web pages. (Now they're more like 'compute centers' or 'GPU centers')
The problem is what's actually happening and what they are.
The name data center does sound cold and dystopian whereas compute campus sounds warmer. People say that none of the backlash to data centers is related to their name, but I don’t think the anti-data center movement would have been able to amass as much support initially if data centers were named something less evil sounding

Here the thing on Michigan: This is all on El-Sayed. He has never, ever condemned antisemitism and Israel hate. Never. He just hasn’t. And he’s had a million opportunities to do so. He would easily condemn racism against black people. But not antisemitism against Jews. El-Sayed may still win, but he’s the reason this race is super close. He’s the reason black and Jewish voters in Michigan won’t vote Democrat this year. This is all on him.
