WordPress in 2026:
Still ~43% of the web.
Still the smartest choice for most clients (probably 80%+ of what I build).
But it's never been about the tool—it's about what you create with it.
The real question: What's next for WordPress?
Do we even need traditional backends anymore, or will we just tell AI: "Update this section, add that feature, optimize for mobile..."?
I genuinely love WordPress and want it to thrive.
But how do we evolve? What's your vision for its future?
You can prop up your cup of tea without shitting on something you probably have any much grasp on...
Hot take: If you’re still building websites with #WordPress or #Framer, you’re optimizing for comfort — not leverage.
These tools cap what you can build.

The fact that OptinMonster is built with WordPress will never cease to fascinate me. Asked my dev team if we could make the static template library *in the app* more flexible so that we can more easily manage and test various configurations on the fly, without needing the dev team. In fact, what I actually said was, "Remember the Genesis Featured Posts widget? I want that - flexible widget areas. Or like Post Grid blocks."
A week later, they've got the POC using Blocks and Patterns - flexible, but constrained enough to be always on brand - in a way that would let us test various layouts of the page to see which ones increase activation the most.
Don't let anyone tell you WordPress is dying. If you know what to do with it, it's just getting started.

If you are an experienced developer, use AI to BUILD.
If you are learning to code or you're new to a technology, use AI to LEARN.

Add a clear call-to-action on every service page.
Don’t make users guess what to do next.
Guide them, “Book a call,” “Get a quote,” or “Start now.”
