Walker on Valimaki: "He fit into the system right away. Really smart defenseman, knows how to make plays. Obviously, that's why he's getting second power play unit time. He does a lot of really good things with the puck. Him getting rewarded with a goal tonight is just an accumulation of him playing really good hockey. So it's been great. He slotted in really well and from the first game has added and been an asset to our team."

So, to recap the Larkin situation, this year he has:
- Said he wants to be a Red Wing for life
- Missed the playoffs again (scored one even strength goal after the Olympics btw)
- Demanded a trade (but only to the top 3 US contenders)
- Lost the captaincy
- Begrudgingly showed up to camp (but wouldn't *really* answer any questions & got "injured)
- Decided to play & said his focus was on winning games
- Expanded his trade list (to the top 10 US contenders)
- Publicly quit on his team for a second time
Missing anything? Seems like a really easy guy to root for

Love seeing the guys (Gridin, Suniev, Bahl) yielded from the Lindholm, Toffoli, Markstrom trades being some of the most impactful skaters on the team so far this season.
Craig Conroy doesn't get nearly enough credit for the sheer volume of work he's done over the last 3 years.
The guy has just been grinding day in and day out.

Last season, it took 20 games for the Flames to score their 8th power play goal. They finished 31st on the PP (16.2%).
Through 10 games this season, Calgary is 8-for-25 (32.0%), which ranks them 3rd in the NHL — and Zayne Parekh has been a big factor in that as the QB on PP1.

I will give the Prospect Don push to this tweet.
Wyttenbach is him. What a steal in the 5th round to the Flames. Would be in discussion as a 1st round pick in a redraft. @JohnOzzyTutu knows how to find these gems

Flames are legit contenders for the #1 draft pick. Couple years late but they’re on the right path.

I want to know the name of the scout who died on the hill for the #Flames to draft Chase Harrington in the second round, because I want to personally thank them.

#Flames earn their 58th consecutive win when scoring 4 or more goals

“It felt awesome. I think to score, to win, to be playing in a tight game at the end where things matter and every little play matters was exciting. That’s what you live for right? Like I’m here to play hockey. I’m here to have fun and when you can enjoy moments like that and the boys are up on the bench because someone blocked a shot in a 2-1 game, that’s the best part about it. So I think that was a lot of fun for me and I think just mentally kind of overcoming a couple of hurdles over the last week has been a lot, but to get out there and play hockey and win a game, it’s all fun."
