Besides subpoenas and investigations etc.
Dems should get to passing all kinds of popular SINGLE ISSUE bills every day. Get republicans on record voting against these issues, and Trump on record vetoing them.
- Legalize Marijuana
- $15 Minimum wage
- Paid vacation time by law
- Restrict institutional homebuying
- AI and Data Center regulation
- Universal free school meals
- Ban surprise medical bills
- require health insurance companies to cover prescribed drugs
- Cap credit card interest rate
- Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices
- Ban junk fees
- Ban algorithmic rent setting apps
- Expand child tax credit
GET THEM ON RECORD AGAINST ALL OF IT
🕊 The missing Twin Towers returned to New York for a few minutes
A light show was held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The drones first rose into the night sky in a spiral, then formed the outlines of the destroyed World Trade Center towers.
The installation used 2,977 drones — one for each person killed in the attacks.

As someone with an astrophysics PhD who works in a neurobiology lab, where we “transfer” the minds of drosophila larvae into a computer, I am perhaps uniquely qualified to tell you that space colonisation is a LOT easier than mind uploading. It is not even close.
Replying to @peterrhague
I don't understand why we need space colonization it has greater ROI to focus on transferring our minds to VR and if civilization passed the current bottle neck we might achieve it in 100 years

Have we just completely abandoned the idea that tariffing authority belongs to Congress? It's literally in the Constitution. What are we even doing here

NEW from me: China's CO2 emissions fell ~1.6% in the first quarter and have now been flat or down for more than a year. This is the first time on record that emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand.
NEW – Analysis: Clean energy just put China’s CO2 emissions into reverse for first time | @laurimyllyvirta

ALT Line chart – China's CO2 emissions are now 1% below their March 2024 peak: China’s emissions from fossil fuels and cement, million tonnes of CO2, rolling 12-month totals. Source: Emissions are estimated from National Bureau of Statistics data on production of different fuels and cement, China Customs data on imports and exports and WIND Information data on changes in inventories, applying emissions factors from China’s latest national greenhouse gas emissions inventory and annual emissions factors per tonne of cement production until 2024. Sector breakdown of coal consumption is estimated using coal consumption data from WIND Information and electricity data from the National Energy Administration.

In my view, if the State wants to hold someone in jail pre-trial, they should have to pay a monthly bond, which he recovers upon acquittal.
Good friend of mine just got a not guilty on a five count CM case
Jury acquitted on every single charge
Guy has been in jail for over two years.
What does he get now?
Is there any accountability for the people that made the allegations or brought the prosecution?
What’s it worth you to avoid two years of county jail?
How much would I have to pay you to go there?
What should we give someone that was there wrongfully ?

Historians love saying that "People didn't know they were living through a period of decline". I have become skeptical of that, decline can be extremely obvious sometimes!
Here is a challenge for @Fat_Electrician, (possibly for next April Fools day) do a video as your keyboard warrior alter ego about an interesting Russian success/hero like the development of the AK-47, Soyuz or Yuri Gagarin, or battle back and forth about Benedict Arnold

Ok, here's something I learned in high school humanities: As long as people believe that they have redress for injustice, either through courts or through political action (like voting), the people will choose nonviolent options.

Once more, the Gamecocks make sure my heart will go on!
You’ve seen the ending to the South Carolina/Missouri football game. You have seen it many times with different edits.
But you haven’t seen the ending quite like this.
Thank you @gococks69 for the insane video!
Enjoy!

“Gamecocks Roll Again”
Every guy has that one buddy who exists simply as an agent of chaos. He probably stole a police car in college, brought fireworks to your kid's baptism and once referred to a hand grenade as "fishing gear." He is the initiating force between five of your funniest stories and a dozen of your saddest.
In college football, this role is now being played by Shane Beamer.
South Carolina has no certifiable identity in 2024 beyond simply wrecking things. Each week, Beamer's team is like letting a group of beavers loose in a Hobby Lobby. You have no idea what will happen, but it's bound to be interesting. One week the Gamecocks are getting trounced by Ole Miss. The next, they're taking Alabama to the wire. The next, they're upending a top-10 Texas A&M. And on Saturday, they went to Nashville, became the first program in college football to make Diego Pavia sad and walked away with a 28-7 win over Vanderbilt.
Is LaNorris Sellers a good quarterback? Who cares? Pass rushers bounce off him like he's wearing one of those inflatable sumo wrestler suits. So what if the Gamecocks have only one real playmaker at the skill positions. "Rocket" Sanders racked up 178 yards and three touchdowns against Vandy, and if you said he also recorded a country version of "Sandstorm" afterward to celebrate the win, that'd be entirely believable. And the Gamecocks' defense is so ridiculously frustrating, Hugh Freeze sent it a "thank you" note for trying to convince Pavia not to come back to college football for another year.
South Carolina is bowl-eligible now, which surely means some poor team is going to lose the ReliaQuest Bowl after coughing up four safeties and a 98-yard touchdown run by Sellers in which he steamrolls all 11 defenders and two hot dog vendors en route to the end zone.
South Carolina makes no sense, is palpably dangerous and is willing to buy Jager shots for everyone who shows up to its Week 14 showdown with Clemson. It's a thing of beauty. Written by @ADavidHaleJoint
What a well written piece, David! 👏🏻 👏🏻
The only explanation that I can think of to explain the election results last night (that isn't sexist or racist) is that the Democrats GOTV efforts backfired and annoyed people into not voting by texting them incessantly and knocking on their door multiple times
Here's some great info about the sophisticated bots you are seeing on social media, and will be very tired of by the end of the month.

Some thoughts and observations to the state and federal response to historic flooding in Western NC from Hurricane Helene
Its not sinking in to outsiders, or it’s just so hard to comprehend that the countless roads in Western N.C. , simply no longer exist.
The state and federal response has been ongoing, with over 1,000 personnel, including National Guard assets, deployed according to FEMA. Disaster Declaration for NC have been expedited, approved, but…
Those crews cannot traverse over collapsed bridges, 100+ foot ravinesthat weren’t there before.
Main interstates I-40 and I-26 have collapsed.
Primary state routes are scoured.
The secondary roads into neighborhoods are effectively eviscerated, for miles. Survivors *can’t* get out, help *can’t* get in.
It’s hard enough to get into Asheville. 30 minutes drives take 8-12 hours with the roads not existing, the remaining gas stations swamped. To get into the towns in villages in the mountains is a days journey if possible at all. National Guard trucks with food and water have to stop and collapses. The tools and supplies for SAR aren’t getting in via road.
Similar to Hurricane Katrina, where boats and helicopters were the only viable means of aid delivery in the first days, air support is currently the most effective way to connect Western NC to the outside world. There’s a limited amount of helicopters operating. Although the water has receded, the roads are still impassable.
This is still very much an active search and rescue mission not a recovery. There is a high number of missing (in the thousands per state media) because people can’t get in touch with loved ones. We saw this after Hurricane Ian as well, that number will drop significantly when phone service/internet returns. For death toll and recovery, the final number will not be known for at least a month in the region.
The lack of media presence on the ground isn’t due to neglect—reporters can't get into many areas, for the same reason help can’t. Even if they could, there is phone and internet do not exist.
This is not going to be a quick recovery for anyone. Some rural parts of Western NC may not be rebuilt.
