What a fantastic evening at Old Trafford celebrating 40 years of Sir Alex taking the reign at @ManUtd. Catching up with the boys and some great speeches about how he achieved to leave such a mark on this club! – at Manchester, England

Video piece about Avram Glazer. Why he's wrong (obviously) and why United can never be great again with these parasites at the club. tr.ee/wtfglazer

🚨Ineos has done a terrible job — but it is 100% a lot easier to get the Glazers out today than in 2023. What few realize is that the money it would take to make United a giant in European football again “is peanuts”. There is a clear blueprint for how to build a successful top European club. This should not be mixed up with what it takes to maintain a top position, which is a lot less. City, PSG, Real, Barca, Chelsea and co have all done it at one point or another. It’s to spend more than your rivals on the transfer market, get the best players, for a period of 2-3 years. With the way this club is run, it can afford to spend say 150m per summer. If an owner underwrote an additional 300m per summer it brings the total amount up to 450m per summer. Do that 3 summers in a row, for a total of 900m of owner support — and United would be back. United ‘being back’ equals at least 200-300m more in revenue per season. So the money being put in by an owner is basically not a cost, it’s an investment. And as we see everywhere else and as is only natural — once you built a winner, you do not need to keep spending as much. BUT — United does not do this because of the Glazers. The Glazers require a strict budget to be implemented. Why? Because if costs get out of hand, the owners have to cover it — and they have no money. United is their ATM machine (a tautology?). I’ve said it before, if Ineos throws in the towel, the Glazers ends up in an awful position. Simply awful position. No stadium is getting built. The club is in its worst position in 50 years. Sure, they could go to some hedge fund that will finance a new stadium and the club against security in future TV money or whatever. But the terms of such a deal would be completely awful given the negotiating position the club is in. Why are leaks coming from the Glazers now?
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has effectively ruined Manchester United's chance of a full takeover by giving in to the Glazers: 1. $300M in new shares at the Glazers request: Issued at $33/share, bloating the total share count and raising the baseline takeover cost for any future 100% owner. 2. £0 of debt cleared: The ~£637M principal debt (part of £1.3B total liabilities) remains fully intact. 3. Higher service costs: Soaring global interest rates mean servicing that debt bleeds more club revenue each year. Any new owner now has an extra $300M to pay out on top of over $600M in debt; that is $1 billion of extra cost on top of its actual value. We are dead in the water.

Apart from being tone-deaf, this is just plain wrong from Avram Glazer. Yes Manchester United enjoyed a brief commercial boom as on-field results plummeted post-Ferguson — reflecting a change in the club's priorities — but since then commercial income has flatlined in an era of huge growth elsewhere (e.g. Liverpool and Arsenal). A failing #MUFC still holds great commercial appeal, obviously, but a successful #MUFC would bring in far more revenue, commercially and otherwise. Does Avram Glazer really believe what he's saying? Surely not. Although it would explain a lot ... nyti.ms/4yUIGjj

Great stuff out there on Avram’s comments — and I even think that the relevant comparison is Barca and Real. They have not only caught up with United, they have left United in the dust. It is in no way shape or form an exaggeration to claim Ineos and the Glazers extreme incompetence is costing the club 200-300m a year. It’s low. If we look at where the top clubs in European football where 10 years ago, and see the paths chosen by the clubs, the result is scary. During the Glazer sell process — which is the reason I set up this account, it’s my area of expertise — I repeatedly posted that I would have zero concerns about whomever buys MUFC not investing in the squad. Zero concerns. The need for outside investment was why the Glazers put up the club for sale. What I am trying to say is that the notion that the issues within MUFC are bigger than Ineos could see from the outside is absurd BS. Everyone else will 100% looked at the club and calculated that it needed ~£1bn. Ineos went, it needs nothing ($300m which barely covered the lawyer fees, firing and hiring a bunch of managers and fixing Carrington), we will just fire half the work force.
The growth in Utd's commercial revenue since 2005 not quite as spectacular as Avram makes it out to be

Legg merke til ordlyden her: «Hvis de nå skulle bli dømt». De er allerede funnet skyldige i 114 grove regelbrudd. Hvorfor fortsetter Fjørtoft å tåkelegge fakta på direktesendt TV?

No longer allowed in football but these fuckers are allowed to run us into the ground! @premierleague @FA do something about it!
🚨 @SkyKaveh: "The vast majority of football reporters and commentators who covered the Glazer family's takeover WARNED that leveraged buyouts - the acquisition of a company using a high proportion of borrowed money (debt) - should NOT be allowed in football. Leveraged buyouts of the kind the Glazers used to buy United are NO longer allowed in English football. That is no consolation for United fans." [Sky]

Replying to @JanAageFjortoft

God planlegging👍
