Jeff became a friend during my cancellation. He took the case that got homosexuality decriminalised in Northern Ireland, and he’s now warning that this conversion therapy bill does the opposite. ‘It’s anti-gay. It’s transing the gay away.’ Those who seek to push it through would do well to listen to @JeffDudgeon - he knows his onions.
“We are gay men and we consider this legislation to be anti-gay. It is transing the gay away.” Jeff Dudgeon played a vital role in the campaign to decriminalise homosexuality in Northern Ireland. He now opposes the Conversion Practices (Criminalisation) Bill, which is before the Northern Ireland Assembly. A founding member of the Northern Ireland Gay Rights Association, Jeff brought the first successful challenge to the criminalisation of homosexuality at the European Court of Human Rights. On 22 October 1981, the Court ruled that Northern Ireland’s law violated his right to respect for private life. The Homosexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 1982 followed, bringing the law in line with the rest of the UK. Forty-five years later, he is campaigning against a Bill presented as necessary to protect LGBT people. As he points out, those who oppose it are routinely smeared as homophobes. “Conversion practices” conjures up electric shock treatment and corrective rape — horrific practices that are already illegal. So what would this Bill criminalise? It would expose parents to prosecution, and up to two years in prison, for having honest conversations with children who are confused about their gender identity. Gender identity issues can cause great turmoil within families. Many parents already feel pressured to affirm their child’s belief that they were born in the wrong body, for fear of damaging their relationship. The Bill would add the threat of prosecution for parents who wish to guide their child away from life-changing, irreversible medicalisation. It would rip families apart. This is of particular concern to gay rights campaigners such as Jeff, because the vast majority of gender-confused children are same-sex attracted, and same-sex attraction often goes hand in hand with gender non-conformity in childhood. Brilliant questioning here from @NazShahBfd of Professor Ilias Trispiotis: she forces him to concede that - yes, ordinary parental conversations with their children will fall under the scope of this Bill and they will be criminalised
So Stonewall want a registry of Stonewall-approved therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists to be set up? What could possibly go wrong? Stephen Kiely from Stonewall is giving *very* strong Matthew Hopkins “Witchfinder General” vibes

I want you all to know this. There are 650 MPs in Parliament. Yet the one MP chosen by @UKLabour to Chair the Bill Committee for the controversial, dangerous and dismally bad draft legislation, the Conversion Practices Bill, is Alex Barros-Curtis. Until July 2024, when Alex was given a very safe Labour seat in Cardiff, he was the Head of the Labour Party's Governance and Legal Unit in London. This was a department set up to investigate complaints against members of the Labour Party. Complaints of antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, and of course latterly, mostly women holding legally-protected 'Gender Critical' (sex realist) beliefs. Alex oversaw the investigation of hundreds of members who liked or tweeted gender critical or feminist views. I was one of them. He investigated me, as a sitting Labour MP, for 13 months. 13 months to 'investigate' one like of one tweet. I had a great lawyer, one of the names we're all now familiar with, and I had to crowdfund to pay for his (excellent) work. They first tried in 2020. But the screenshots crudely attached to that passive aggressive, threatening-sounding email from LP admin staff were so risible that I replied that it was too ridiculous for me to waste my precious time on. They left it. Years of Starmer bumbling and stuttering through interviews about whether he had spoken to me, whether he supported me, etc followed. My feminist sins continued apace. And then I 'liked' a tweet by my GC comedian friend @Glinner. He had mocked Eddie'Suzy' for comparing his choice to wear traditional women's clothing, fake plastic breasts and nails, to those being persecuted by the Nazis during WWII. I found his sarcasm, as a award-winning comedy writer in the face of such offensive narcissism amusing and so 'liked' it. I found it absurd and obscene that Izzard, an extremely privileged and wealthy man, who openly changed his 'gender' at will, should write himself into history falseley as someone who would have been oppressed due to a circumstance beyond his control. We all know the groups who were tortured, starved and killed... There is obviously more to my story, I will tell it all, it's just one chapter of the years of spiteful abusive and bullying practices meted out to me by the Labour Party managers. Not those who'd achieved office on merit, or even unexpectedly, but those in the club, often having failed to be elected themselves. So Barros-Curtis who we were repeatedly told led 'the many *independent* inquiries into women members and MPs like me, now often stands as a trans-rights activist on the Labour backbenches. He has also been gifted the role of Chair of this Committee and is a huge supporter of this Bill. And I am not a part of the Bill Committee, although plenty of TRA MPs are. Does that sound like the democratic scrutiny of legislation to you?

Stonewall want parents locked up if they don’t want their child to castrate themselves - many of whom will grow up gay. It’s rare to hear from Stonewall in a public forum - sunlight is the best form of disinfectant. As a gay man they make me sick - they are pure evil.

This is really worrying. The mandatory investigative duty under s47 of Children Act 1989 will be triggered. All these chaos and expense for what exactly? A social contagion that wasn’t on anyone’s radar less than a decade ago.

Say what you will about the patriarchy, but it was generally pretty good at keeping weird fetishists out of the workplace.
I’ve now been contacted by numerous people about the ‘Boob Man of Oxford’. Those who work or study at Oxford have asked for anonymity, so I can’t share identifying details. But some common themes have emerged: - Unsurprisingly, women describe feeling uncomfortable about a male lecturer wearing what appear to be oversized prosthetic breasts in their place of work or study - Some question whether there is a sexual element or whether it is a ‘power play’. These are their concerns, rather than established explanations for his behaviour - but are legitimate concerns nonetheless - They say they’re afraid to raise concerns because he is surrounded by ‘allies’, including staff, who defend his appearance as 'self-expression' One source has even wondered whether this is an elaborate stunt to embarrass the university - along the lines of Josh Seiter, who pretended to be a trans woman as an 'experiment'. Another source says this has been going on for three years - which does seem a long time to keep up the act. There is interest in covering this in the mainstream press. What would help now is more documentary evidence: complaint letters, responses or correspondence showing how concerns have been handled. My inbox is open: [email protected]. Happy to have a confidential chat about any aspect of this. All messages treated in confidence.

This was from back in June on the Conversion Practices Bill. There was only a handful of us raising concerns. I remember being staggered at the time how clear it was that the Minister hadn’t read or understood her own bill. And she didn’t even attempt to answer the question on whether a parent withholding consent for a child to participate in the puberty blocker trial could be at risk of 5 years in prison. This Minister is now the Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

I certainly read things which make me see some issues from a different perspective. Happened recently. NHS wards, biological sex thing. I suggested some women wouldn't feel comfortable if trans woman on the same ward - reply, some people wouldn't like black people on same ward.

Every day is make everything about trans day!
Funny how a man can wear a dress on Halloween and nobody screams about biology. But let a trans woman exist in public, and suddenly everyone's a gender expert. Apparently, gender expression is only acceptable when it's a costume.

I used to go to parties containing people like Jane Clare Jones, Helen Lewis and Sarah Ditum. I naively thought we were all on the same side. But I found they all shared a deep, classist distaste for people who got stuff done, and would even do their best to sabotage them

The problem with left-wing feminists is they will ultimately prioritise left-wing ideology above women's rights. They seem incapable of creating any kind of genuine movement because they think you must swear allegiance to their politics above all else. It's very conceited.

These people saw the stress my ex-wife and I were under first-hand and instead of compassion or empathy Lewis and Ditum sent me tone policing letters commanding me to shut up. No different from a thousand other "why die on this hill?" messages I'd received.
