In this case, the witnesses are trying to remember the force and manner at which someone was pulled by the arm in 2001. And the meaning or intention of that, in retrospect. And the nonverbal cues that may or may not have been present--such as smiles, body language, and long gazing--or the lack of these cues. And the internal cognitions of those involved, at the time, in 2001. Can you remember how long you gazed at someone, or smiled at someone, from last month, or last year, or 20 years ago? I never know the ground truth in legal cases, but I can say that reappraisals can happen over time, memories shift with those reappraisals, and memory traces in the upper cortex fade and are interfered with (by newer information) to a very large degree over years. I encourage people to get down their memory documented the day of an alleged crime, or the day after at the very latest, and before any contamination of memory can start to occur. I am not condoning any behavoir--even legal behavior--that falls below my moral standards (of then and now), but I am still concerned about legal decisions relating to behavior from decades ago. gbnews.com/celebrity/russell…

Interestingly nuanced review of Magnolia Graffiti, by JP 'Hugely important message, worthy of a TV drama, but difficult to read I find this a difficult review to write for various reasons; I don't want in any way to be critical because of the crucial importance of this story and the need for it to be told. But also because of the trauma that the author has endured despite him nobly trying to minimise that in his book, along with denying any feeling of understandable hatred towards his accuser The accuser will also no doubt have experienced trauma herself. The readers weren't there, so only two people in the whole world know what actually happened - and that's inevitably the case with so-called "he said, she said" cases. But alcohol-fuelled situations surely need an extra degree of scrutiny/reality checks on the part of prosecutors. So my comments are made in the spirit of undiluted admiration and respect for Sean's openness The first, and the most fundamental, point is that Sean's story is so compelling that it merits a drama along the lines of ITV's Mr Bates v The Post Office, to raise awareness. Men (and I say this deliberately because it is men who are most vulnerable) are at huge risk of being in Sean's position - I have heard this story many times in my 20+ years of being professionally involved in the false allegations arena Women (and it's mostly but not exclusively women), for various reasons ranging from drunkeness to mental illness to wanting compensation to simply regretting having sex with someone because they are in a relationship, can and do claim Rape, when another R word is more factually correct - Regret. (And this isn't in any way a comment on allegations of, and convictions for, rape generally, although I shouldn't have to include that caveat) Sean is so brave for telling his story publicly and for supporting others in his position, and of course campaigning for change - there are many categories of victim in our non black-and-white world. But the book isn't easy to read - not because of its disturbing content (and it should be disturbing), but because it isn't written in a way that makes it easy to follow. It lacks structure and at times appears unnecessarily verbiose and that detracts from the main narrative. But, in my view, this story needs to be told widely - anyone out there from ITV drama listening??' We had a kid in our friend group accused of SA in college. A year or so later, huge shocker, she admitted it was all fabricated to avoid getting punished for underage drinking. Without any investigation, our guy was removed from the officer commissioning program where he was one of the most competent and widely loved students in his peer group, and basically blacklisted on campus. She took everything from him (at the time), most importantly his reputation. Left without many choices, he decided to enlist, and worked his way up to become an officer in one of the most elite and storied units in American military history. He was and still is a good man, and I'm glad it all worked out for him. But there's a certain level of damage done when you falsely attach certain labels to people that never goes away, even after they are cleared of all wrongdoing. You can tarnish in a millisecond what it takes a lifetime to restore. It's clear why God prohibits bearing false witness against our neighbor. In many cases, it's more harmful than murder.

This story broke over a year ago but almost nobody heard about it and there have been zero consequences. Centrelink pays $4,327 to Australian women who abort their unborn babies after 20 weeks. A leaked letter from Senator Katy Gallagher's office confirms it. "The eligibility criteria for Stillborn Baby Payment do not exclude circumstances where the stillbirth was due to a medical termination, including an intentional abortion," a senior executive wrote on Gallagher's behalf. Gallagher oversees the payment twice over — as Minister for Government Services and Minister for Women in the Albanese government. She's also a member of EMILY's List, the pro-abortion group that backed her Senate run and required a pro-abortion pledge in return. Most late-term abortions in Australia involve an injection of potassium chloride into the baby's beating heart. This is a procedure so painful that inmates on death row in the US have to be sedated and given painkillers first. But not for Australian babies. The mother then goes into labour and the baby is delivered dead. This procedure satisfies the clinical definition of stillbirth — hence the letter from Gallagher's office. Dr Joanna Howe, who obtained the letter, called it definitive proof "confirming that Labor pays for an intentional abortion." "A woman who has an intentional abortion — or even a man who forces a woman to have an intentional abortion — the Labor government will pay them $4,200." "It's a dead baby bonus for late-term abortions, paid for by all of us." In South Australia, late-term abortions rose 380 per cent between 2022 and 2024. 105 babies died. Only one abortion was to save the mother's life. 79 killed otherwise healthy babies. The national media still hasn't touched this story. When will they do their job?

Surgical transition in Sweden, one of the world’s most accepting countries, still left patients dying by suicide at 19x the general rate decades later. Dhejne tracked 324 Swedish patients for up to 30 years after surgery and compared them to matched controls, concluding that surgery alone is not sufficient treatment and ongoing psychiatric care still matters. Trans youth already show extreme rates of autism, depression, and anxiety independent of later discrimination, with one Australian survey putting autism at 22.5%, 10x the population rate. The Cass Review found insufficient high quality evidence that these treatments reduce suicide risk at all, and the elevated risk persists in accepting societies after surgery and among people already loaded with unrelated psychiatric conditions.
