The treatment of Kenyans seeking visas to Nigeria is unacceptable. While we extend visa free entry to Nigerian citizens, this is not reciprocated. The inconvenience suffered by Kenyans is unwarranted. We are pursuing the remedying of this situation with vigor at diplomatic and political levels. @KenyaHC_Nigeria @NigeriaMFA

By the way applying for a Nigerian Visa - you need more documents than you need for the UK, US, Schengen.
And the process is longer. You even need the passport of the inviter.
A colleague is applying because someone decided to host a conference in Nigeria that he has to attend.

Just went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out who owns the organisation behind the #BallonDor because it’s not lost on me that the man who recently played golf with Trump is now winning over Dembélé, Mbappé, Haaland, Yamal, Bellingham (who outshone him at the World Cup); players who’ve been collecting Player of the Year titles and other awards for their performances THIS YEAR. And somehow, the one player Trump was bragging about is coming out on top for the Ballon d’Or after an okay-ish World Cup performance 🤔?
See, ever since FIFA played its corrupt little games at the World Cup to favour Argentina, (after handing Trump that ridiculous FIFA Peace Prize), I’ve become a little conspiratorial about football.
Anyway. Turns out I might have been right.
In the words of the Tiger King himself, it’s all corrupt gurl.
With respect to my colleagues in the football writing industry, I am stunned that Bruno Fernandes has been named FWA Footballer of the Year instead of Declan Rice. Rice has literally won more matches this season (35) than Fernandes has even played (34).

The entire Financial Times editorial board has published a piece urging Lula to cut government spending and appoint a finance minister who enjoys the confidence of investors.
I get the impression that the FT editorial board has never opened an economics book other than some outdated introductory macroeconomics textbook, perhaps something by Mankiw. Otherwise, it's hard to explain such astonishing arrogance and economic ignorance.
Lula and the Brazilian people have absolutely no reason to bow to the demands of financial markets. Brazil is Latin America's largest economy, a major regional power, and a country with a high degree of monetary sovereignty. Around 97% of the central government's debt is denominated in its own currency, the Brazilian real.
The relationship between the state and financial markets is therefore nothing like the FT portrays it. Brazil is not dependent on financial markets. On the contrary, financial markets depend on government spending, which creates financial assets for the private sector, while government debt denominated in the national currency is one of the instruments through which those assets are held.
What Brazil needs is not capitulation to financial markets, but an independent economic policy focused on expanding production, creating jobs, and improving people's living standards.
Armed with the insights of heterodox economic theory, Brazil has the potential to show the world what a genuine economic miracle looks like. ft.com/content/79785581-88c2…

We cannot have monstrously huge corporations earning millions & billions, paying no taxes to this country & trying to steer this country's election results."

I kept my passes from KQ flights 202 and 203 to and fro Mumbai on 15/16 October 2025. I couldn’t tell you what the toughest part of the day was, receiving the news in the morning or taking that flight to Mumbai. But I digress. I want to say Ahsante sana to some key people who made everything possible in very difficult circumstances.
1. The Indian High Commission in Nairobi and the Indian Government. I don’t know how many rules of international travel were bent to make that flight happen. Ahsante sana.
2. @KenyaAirways management and the flight crew led by Capt. Saviemaria Ondego. Absolute class. Bwana on the way back we thought our tears had dried then she hit us with that call change to RAO001 when we entered our airspace. Wacha tu. God bless.
3. The regular passengers on those two flights. Many were bumped off. Heavy seat changes to accommodate the delegation. Long delays especially on flight 202. Many had no idea what was happening until we were airbone and the captain made the announcement. Apologies for the inconveniences on that day, but you were very gracious. God bless.
4. The @kdfinfo . Bwana for the honor extended to Baba, we his people will forever be grateful. Salute🫡
Raila Odinga's politics were full of contradictions; his camp included honest, grounded men, but also useful idiots and con artists. My essay on the man who defined Kenya's politics for decades.
