Not so peaceful protests in France.
One of France’s biggest grocers, Carrefour, had to cut guidance. “I was not originally scheduled to join this call. But given the scale and the seriousness of the events in France over the past few days and their consequences for our business and our teams, I felt it was important to speak to you directly."
— Carrefour CEO on its Q3 sales call.
Carrefour reported significant damage to approximately 50 stores and estimated an €80 million–€200 million operating-profit impact from the unrest.

Absolutely incredible…
"Wedgewood Polls" just admitted they are a fake polling firm and made up their polls.
Their fake polls have been posted in both the NYT and Nate Silver’s averages.

I sincerely apologize.
I misread the term "Muselmann" (Muslim) used in Nazi camps for prisoners at the brink of death, wrongly inferring that the term antisemitism originally meant hatred of all Semitic peoples. In fact it was coined specifically to denote hatred of Jews.

Wow, from the Washington Post: “Fraud grew rampant in recent years because the Biden administration increased Obamacare enrollment by expanding eligibility for zero-premium plans while failing to perform sufficient due diligence. That created a cottage industry of unscrupulous intermediaries, who received commissions from the government for signing up phantom “customers.””

I have written eleven opinion pieces for The New York Times across 35 years. I still read it. I write what follows with no joy: while I have watched it become increasingly partisan in its news coverage over the decades, no topic has made its loss of balance clearer to me than its handling of Israel since October 7.
This week the Times published a sentence suggesting that Israeli victimhood over the 2023 Hamas terror attack was not a fact, but a "matter of perception." It only added an Editors' Note after furious backlash, much of it here on X. I have written corrections myself. A sentence like that doesn't slip past a reporter, an editor, and a copy desk by accident. The underlying problem is that it did not set off an alarm until readers outside the building made noise.
And that was simply the latest example. In May, the paper's Opinion section ran a column alleging Israeli forces used dogs to rape Palestinian detainees, built on sourcing no other serious outlet had corroborated. The Times's own executive editor later said the newsroom "wouldn't have done that exact piece."
Now there's data behind the pattern. A peer-reviewed Yale study of 1,559 Times articles on the war found the word "Israel" appeared more than three times as often as "Hamas," and that 1,423 of those articles mentioned neither Israeli casualties after Oct. 7 nor Hamas combatants killed in the war.
"Paper of record" was never a hereditary title. It was a claim about earned trust. I am not sure anyone still believes it.

The New York Times wants to be the Washington Post so bad it's comical, but they lack the Qatari ethos. Still, you can't deny they're doing their best.
"A review of the Times' 1,559 articles published between Oct. 7, 2023, and June 7, 2024, showed that the Times often omitted deaths sustained by the Jewish military while looking the other way on ongoing Palestinian violence once the war began after Hamas terrorists’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel." nypost.com/2026/09/13/media/…

Stuyvesant High School was ranked #2,561 in this year’s @USNewsEducation National Rankings; last year, it was #33. Other top NY schools also fell in the rankings. What caused the precipitous drop?
@NYSED would not permit College Board to release the aggregate AP (Advanced Placement) scores used in the ranking calculations. Why? Commissioner Betty Rosa has not provided a reason, but insinuated that it was to protect student privacy.
Such a bold-faced lie that @USNews issued a statement: “NYSED has characterized U.S. News’ request as an attempt to obtain protected, individual student-level data. This is categorically false. No individual student data was requested.”
Why does the NYS Education Department want New York schools to look bad? We deserve an answer.

I'm sick of people calling Social Security a "benefits" program.
We don't deserve this because we're "entitled" or one of government's favored "give-to" groups.
We deserve this because it's our own money, badly managed and never invested for some of us for over 50 years.
Wow. I never saw that interaction before. He is never shy to speak his mind. In retrospect he looked to be correct.
