I’ll tell you one thing, if we play like this on Saturday against Hull, we really will be “getting mauled by the tigers”. A nervous week awaits!
A snippet of my take on tonight’s shambolic performance. Written exclusively for @Magpie24_7 #NUFC #LEENEW #NUFCFans #NewcastleUnited
🏟️ Elland Road was the venue for some Monday Night Football this evening as Leeds United welcomed Newcastle United to Yorkshire for what was expected to be a hard fought closely fought Premier League clash.
💥 As it turns out, it was the complete opposite. In what is probably best described as Men v Boys….Leeds dismantled the Magpies and ran out 4-1 winners to inflict Matthias Jaissle his first defeat as Newcastle Manager.
The home side romped to a 3-0 lead at the break thanks to a Lewis Miley own goal before Jaden Bogle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin tucked home. Noah Okafor made it 4-0 in the 59th minute before Bazoumana Toure got his first premier league goal of the season to offer the away end something to cheer about.
🇩🇪 Daniel Farke made eight changes to his team that got battered by Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. James Trafford, Nico Elvedi, Jayden Bogle, Anton Stach, Ao Tanaka, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all came back into the side.
🏁 Newcastle United made three changes after their Carabao Cup tie last week. Matias Fernandez-Pardo was included from the start for the first time since he made his £51.4m move to the North East. Malik Thiaw and Lewis Miley were the other two recalled to the starting line-up. Mason Miley was also named on the bench for his first ever Premier League match following a strong pre-season.
Leeds had the first chance after a minute and it was far too easy for them. Bogle’s ball split the defence, Stach got forward and shot at goal but it was blocked. Thankfully for the visitors the following corner didn’t lead to anything. Just a couple of minutes later it was almost 1-0 to the visitors. The ball was played back to Trafford who took the slackest of first touches, Wissa closed it down and the ball nearly ricocheted into the net. Hornicek was forced into making a massive save in the 13th minute. Justin headed the ball across the box to Bogle who fired at goal and made the shot stopper get down well to his right-hand side. As the clock hit the twenty minute mark, Wissa once more put pressure on Trafford when the ball was at his feet. Now Leeds fans know how we felt when Pope was in goal for us! Hornicek was once more called into action in the 25th minute to beat away Bogle’s powerful half volley from the edge of the box. Leeds got the first goal of the game in the 31st minute and it came in very lucky circumstances. Okafor teed up Tanaka who’s shot deflected off Steur and Miley to leave Hornicek wrongfooted. Absolutely nothing the shot stopper could do about that. Just three minutes later, it was 2-0 to the home side when Bogle rose high to head home from a inch perfect Justin cross. It could/should have been 3-0 a few minutes later if it wasn’t for Hornicek reacting well to deny Gudmundsson’s initial effort and Calvert-Lewin’s rebound. Newcastle came close to pulling one back in the 40th minute when Barnes’s goal bound effort was blocked by Muharemovic. Wissa went to ground in the penalty area during the build-up but he made a meal out of it to be honest and it was never going to be a penalty. Calvert-Lewin made it 3-0 in first half stoppage time when Botman b******d up an attempted challenge, the England striker shot at goal and it ended up in the back of the net. Half Time Scoreline Leeds United 3 – #Newcastle 0.
#NUFC should have had a penalty in the 50th minute when Thiaw was getting manhandled by Ampadu but VAR wasn’t even consulted and play continued as if nothing had ever happened. Hall unleased a rare effort at goal in the 52nd minute but his strike from distance was straight down the throat of Trafford. It should have been 4-0 just a minute later when Stach chipped over Hornicek but his effort drifted just wide of the post. It WAS 4-0 five minutes later though when Okafor unleashed a stunning volley at goal that left Hornicek no chance at saving. Once more, it was Botman that gave the ball away cheaply. Barnes was begging for....
At least we got a point I suppose! Here’s my thoughts on today’s draw with the Cherries. #NUFC #Nufcfans
🍒 Bournemouth made the long trip up to St James’ Park this weekend as they faced off against #Newcastle United in the Premier League. The majority of the Cherries fans left the Vitality Stadium at 12:30am in what is the longest away-day in this year’s campaign.
It looked as if all three points would be heading back down to the South Coast before Jacob Ramsey’s 88th minute equaliser completed the comeback and ensured that Newcastle would get a share of the points meaning their unbeaten start to the season would continue!
🇩🇪 Matthias Jaissle named an unchanged side from last weekend’s dominating victory against Tottenham, meaning that new signing Matias Fernandez-Pardo had to make do with a spot on the bench. Tino Livramento was named on the bench as he continues his recovery from injury and Nick Pope took the place of Ewan Jaouen as the back-up keeper due to a training injury.
🍒 Bournemouth Head Coach Marco Rose decided to make just one change to the team that drew with Everton last time out. Lewis Cook was dropped to the bench and replaced by Tyler Adams.
Bournemouth had the first effort at goal in the 3rd minute when the referee awarded a very soft free kick just outside the box. Tavernier’s effort managed to sneak under the wall but Hornicek saved with ease. The visitors opened the scoring in the 9th minute and it was in rather sloppy circumstances. #NUFC failed to clear the ball, it fell into the path of Scott who’s deflected cross/shot landed at Tavernier who stabbed home. VAR did take a look at it but the goal was confirmed. Newcastle fans have some right to be aggrieved about it though as Elanga was fouled in the build up to the goal and should have been awarded a free-kick but it still doesn’t excuse the sloppy defending. It could have been 2-0 just a couple of minutes later when Evanilson blazed over after Botman lost possession in a dangerous area. Hornicek was called into action again in the 15th minute to deny Tavernier’s headed effort following Smith’s cross. Exactly ten minutes later it was de-ja-vu with Hornicek having to be alert to Tavernier following the home side being caught in possession and Bournemouth having to defend a counter attack. Kluivert’s effort was deflected wide by Botman in the 31st minute after yet another instance where the ball was given away. Hornicek was totally wrong footed by the deflection so it was lucky it ended up on the other side of the post. Bournemouth deservedly extended their lead in the 35th minute. Kluivert’s effort hit the post, Scott clipped the rebound across goal and it defected off Thiaw into the net. Newcastle fans finally had something to cheer about 60 seconds later when Barnes pulled one back in spectacular fashion. The winger cut inside before unleashing a superb curling effort past Petrovic. Half Time Scoreline Newcastle United 1 – Bournemouth 2.
Newcastle started the second half brightly and almost had the scores level just a few minutes after the restart. Wissa was the architect of it when he crossed the ball in, it was flicked on by Elanga and met by the head of Willock which caused Petrovic into making a save before Barnes was able to reach it. Hall fired one over from around 25yards out in the 60th minute mark following a short corner-kick. The home side had a penalty appeal waved away in the 75th minute when Pardo’s attempt to fire the ball across the box was blocked by Hill before the ball bounced off the Newcastle player and out of play. The £51million pound signing was convinced it was a hand ball along with the rest of the Gallowgate End but nothing was given. Ramsey levelled things up in the 88th minute when he pounced onto a deflected effort from Barnes and smashed it into the bottom corner. Dedic fired over from a free-kick in a promising position in stoppage time and just moments later the full time whistle was blown. Full Time Scoreline Newcastle United 2 – Bournemouth 2.
Sutty’s Full Time Thoughts: At least we got a...
Fresh off the back of their hard fought 3-2 victory of @WBA in the EFL Cup earlier this week, @NUFC along with 3,000 of their loyalest fans travelled to that London as they faced @SpursOfficial in the second instalment of this seasons @premierleague campaign.
After a goalless first half, Newcastle turned up the tempo & scored two great goals after the interval to hand Matthias Jaissle his first Premier League victory as Magpies boss & their undefeated start to the season in all competitions continue.
There was two changes made by Matthias Jaissle from the side that drew with Liverpool last weekend. Nico Gonzalez made his debut in place of Sean Steur & Joe Willock replaced the injured Will Osula.
Tottenham made five changes to their side for this match. Omar Marmoush was given his debut from Roberto De Zerbi who also included Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Andy Robertson & Sandro Tonali in the starting eleven. Today marked the first time Sandro Tonali faced Newcastle for the first time since his £100m move to the capital.
The visitors had the better start to the match & had a couple of chances inside the first five minutes. Dedic & Miley linked up well to set Elanga up in the box but he couldn’t guide his effort over Kinsky before Hall’s inswinging ball almost landed at the feet of Wissa in the penalty area. Dedic & Wissa linked up to create a chance for Barnes to strike at goal but his effort sailed over the crossbar without causing the Spurs keeper any concern. Hornicek was called into action on the 15 minute mark to deny Tel after the winger unleashed a effort from the edge of the penalty area. Hall provided a huge block to deny a certain goal in the 17th minute when he got in the way of Porro’s goal bound effort. Porro went close again in the 20th minute when his volley narrowly sailed over the crossbar. Marmoush sent an effort wide from close range in the 32nd minute after Robertson’s corner found him unmarked in the box. Wissa had a half chance for the visitors a minute later when the ball landed at his head following a corner but the striker couldn’t get a good enough contact on it to avoid sending it out of play. In the 38th minute, Hornicek was called into action once more to deny Robertson with a smart save & then punch clear the resulting corner. The remainder of the first half passed without and it was all square at the break. Half Time Scoreline Tottenham Hotspur 0 – Newcastle United 0
The home side had a penalty waved away just a couple of minutes after the break when Marmoush went down under very slight contact from Thiaw but the referee was not having it & waved it away. Hall then went close for the visitors just a couple of minutes later when his right footed effort just went over the crossbar. Botman had Kinsky panicking in the 54th minute when his effort from range was deflected leaving him flat footed but the ball whistled past the post. Newcastle took the lead in the 62nd minute through a well worked routine. Gonzalez pinged an inch perfect ball to Dedic who headed the ball into the path of Elanga before the Swedish international turned & unleashed a left footed shot which pinged off the post and crept into the back of the net. Porro tested Hornicek once more in the 70th minute when the shot stopper had to tip his effort over the crossbar. Wissa fired Newcastle into a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute with a stunning finish past Kinsky. Woltemade who had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes headed down Hall’s corner into the path of his team-mate who done the rest. Moore flashed one over Hornicek’s goal in the 85th minute before Marmoush tested the young shot stopper but he was able to hold onto it. Four minutes stoppage time were added but Newcastle were able to hold on and secure all three points. Full Time Scoreline Tottenham Hotspur 0 – Newcastle United 2

It’s good to be back writing again. Here’s my latest piece for @Magpie24_7 🙏#nufc
After what feels like an eternity, the 26/27 edition of the @premierleague has returned & what a fixture to start the season with!
In a match that the late King Kev would have loved to be a part of, the points were shared on Tyneside as Dominik Szoboszlai’s converted penalty deep into injury time salvaged a point for the Reds as they were heading for a deserved loss against #Newcastle
Matthias Jaissle, who was taking charge of his first competitive match at St James’ Park, handed first competitive starts to Amar Dedic, Lukas Hornicek & Stan Steur. Fellow new arrivals Aladji Bamba, Ewan Jaouen & Bazza Toure had to make do with spots on the bench
Andoni Iraola who was also taking charge of his first league fixture for Liverpool, handed centre back Jeremy Jacquet his first competitive start since arriving from Rennes. Former Magpies forward Alexander Isak was named in the starting eleven for his first reappearance at St James’ Park since spitting his dummy out over a year ago, he attempts to re-ignite his career.
Before the match, Bob Moncur, Shola Ameobi, Kenny Dalglish & Ian Rush laid wreaths of roses outside the ground in memory of the late great Kevin Keegan, followed by a spectacular flag display and a minutes applause where “there’s only one Kevin Keegan” echoed around the ground
#NUFC got off to the best possible start when Elanga fired the Magpies into the lead with just 5 minutes on the clock. Gravenberch lost possession on the edge of the Newcastle box, Osula then pushed forward before slotting the Swedish sensation through who raced in on goal & neatly tucked it into the bottom right-hand corner leaving Alison no chance. Hornicek was forced into making a good save in the 18th minute to deny Wirtz from levelling things up when the ball was heading to the bottom corner. Osula had the chance to double the lead in the 25th minute after being played in behind Jacquet by Wissa but ended up in a tangle of legs which resulted in Alison making a comfortable save. The remainder of the first half passed with the visitors looking very uncomfortable on the ball & being easily kept at bay. HT Score Newcastle 1 – Liverpool 0
Liverpool had the first chance of the second half not long after the restart. A corner of theirs caused chaos in the box, the ball nearly ended up at the head of Isak who was just a yard out but luckily Hornicek was able to get a fist to it & get it to safety. Newcastle then broke up the other side of the pitch where the ball fell to Miley who unleashed a shot towards goal after some crowd persuasion but Alison didn’t have to move a muscle & watched it sail over the bar. Gakpo levelled things up in the 54th minute with a low driven shot from outside the box, it was a good strike that left Hornicek no chance in saving. The scores weren’t level for long though as Willock who had only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes restored Newcastle’s lead with a wonderful goal in the 57th minute. Wissa done well to free himself before playing it left to Willock who done the rest & slotted home into the bottom corner. It was almost 3-1 to the Magpies in the 66th minute when the ball was drilled low across the Liverpool box but Wissa couldn’t make contact which would have put it in the back of the net. Isak had a “chance” in the 68th minute with an effort from outside the box but his shot would have been more suited to being at Twickenham or Kingston Park with a different shaped ball. Isak binned yet another chance for him to kickstart his Liverpool career in the 84th minute following a good cross from Frimpong but the headed effort from the swede was easily gathered by the Newcastle stopper. Less than a minute later Wissa should have sealed the victory for the home side but his effort was weak & Alison was able to save with his legs. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Liverpool were gifted an equaliser when Hall brought down Munoz in the box, the referee pointed to the spot & Szoboszlai leathered it into....
Eddie Howe gone, what a shit show our club has been over recent months. No ambition, piss poorly ran from top to bottom including the owners. #nufc
Sunrisers Leeds is the most BS name in the @thehundred. It just doesn’t make sense at all. Sounds like one of those unlicensed names you get on a video game! Should have been left at Northern Superchargers or changed to Northern Sunrisers at the absolute most. #TheHundred2026
Ben Stokes and Baz McCallum have to go NOW. They are absolutely shocking, Englands selection policy is bollocks. Hope Australia whitewash us and teach us a valuable lesson! They deserve it. #Ashes #ECB #CricketAustralia
Bazzball? More like Bazbollocks!! Stokes and McCallum don’t have a sodding clue and no plan B. Australia whitewash incoming. We can’t cope with the quality of Starc, Boland etc. #TheAshes #EnglandCricket #CricketAustralia
Nick Pope HAS to be dropped for our next match: he’s a fucking liability. Ramsdale must be fizzing! Absolutely diabolical start to the second half. #NUFC #NewcastleUnited
Couldn’t have said it better. #NUFC #NewcastleUnited

Quite frankly a bullshit decision by the England Hierarchy. I hope it comes to bite them on the arse. Cross is probably their most efficient fast bowler, a lot more reliable than others who have been included in the World Cup Squad! #ECB #EnglandCricket #CWC25
Unpopular opinion but Wissa has done exactly the same as what Isak has done in my opinion. #NUFC
If that’s his attitude then cya later Isak. You’re not bigger than this club! He wouldn’t be as big as he is without us. #NUFC #NewcastleUnited #NUFCFans
🤩Quarter Finals baby!!
Isaac’s knock could be the difference here. Sensational from the debutant. Don’t count out Durham’s bowlers just yet though. A wicket or two could change just as much as a few dot balls.
What a performance by @Aboflondon4 all tournament, thoroughly deserved to win the title. Will be rooting for him at Q School 🎱 💪 #seniorssnooker #snooker
