Vanga’s Animal has a scene where Ranbir Kapoor walks into a classroom with an AK47. This is what such movies lead to. When will directors like Sandeep Reddy Vanga and actors like Ranbir Kapoor be held responsible for poisoning young minds?

He’ll never know this but Patrick Stewart showed countless boys how to be men. He showed that strength didn't have to mean intimidation, that intelligence should come with humility, and that you could - and should - stand up for what was right even when it cost you something.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

Shehbaz Sharif lecturing India about self-determination? The irony is almost impressive. Let's give the Prime Minister a history lesson. On 22 October 1947, Pakistan-backed tribal raiders invaded Jammu and Kashmir. Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession on 26 October, and Indian troops landed in Srinagar the next day to repel the invasion. Now, about those UN resolutions you love quoting: UNSC Resolution 47 did not offer Pakistan an unconditional plebiscite. Its proposed process required Pakistan to secure the withdrawal of tribesmen and Pakistani nationals who had entered to fight. That crucial first step was never fulfilled. You don't get to invade a territory, occupy part of it, ignore the conditions of a proposed settlement and then spend decades lecturing everyone else about the UN. India's record in Kashmir deserves scrutiny, including its human-rights failures. But that doesn't erase Pakistan's role in the conflict or give Islamabad the right to speak for every Kashmiri. Here's a radical idea, Prime Minister: tell the whole story of 1947, not just the bits that suit your propaganda. Hashtags don't rewrite history. Neither does selective outrage.
Seventy-nine years ago today, Indian forces landed in Srinagar, and a long night fell over Jammu & Kashmir. For nearly eight decades, the Kashmiri people have been denied their inalienable right to self-determination, a right affirmed by the UN Security Council. They have endured repression, incarceration and immense suffering, yet their resolve has never broken. On this solemn day, I pay tribute to the countless Kashmiri men, women and children whose sacrifices keep the flame of freedom alive. Aspirations rooted in justice cannot be extinguished by coercion. Pakistan stands with Kashmir today and always. We will continue our moral, diplomatic and political support until this dispute is resolved in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people. #KashmirBlackDay

If the Manchester United board have watched two months of absolute dross and concluded that giving Carrick more time will solve everything, then they can all fuck off. I love Carrick, but sentiment isn't a strategy. The Bournemouth performance was one of the worst I've seen at Old Trafford in years, and there is precious little evidence that he can arrest this slide. Yes, he inherited a mess. But he hasn't done enough on the pitch this season, either. What really boils my piss is this supposedly “best-in-class” hierarchy confusing inaction with patience and incompetence with long-term planning. INEOS and the Glazers have spent years destroying this club, and we're still expected to applaud them for taking their sweet fucking time fixing it. If this is the best they can do, they are part of the problem. Get your fucking act together or get out of our club. #MUFC
🚨 Michael Carrick will be given chance to turn results around. Carrick is taking training at Carrington, staff + players preparing #MUFC for Saturday trip to Chelsea. More @TheAthleticFC soon.

There is something deeply pathetic about a man who sees women exercising their freedom and immediately starts fantasising about a society that would take it away from them. Calling feminism a cancer doesn’t make you a defender of culture; it exposes how desperately you want control over women dressed up as tradition. You don’t respect Rajasthani or Haryanvi women by praising the patriarchy they live under. You’re romanticising a system of male authority because the idea of women having autonomy clearly makes you uncomfortable. And this nonsense about Bengali parents giving their daughters too much freedom? That freedom is not a flaw. A woman being educated, financially independent, choosing her partner, going out without seeking permission or refusing to live by your expectations is not the collapse of civilisation. It’s called being a human being with agency. The funniest part is that you’re blaming feminism for Bengal’s supposed decline while offering absolutely no evidence that patriarchy makes a society better. You’ve confused controlling women with preserving culture, male authority with morality, and female obedience with family values. Those are not the same things. And let’s be honest: if your idea of a strong society depends on keeping half its population on a shorter leash, perhaps the problem isn’t feminism. Perhaps it’s your definition of strength. Bengal doesn’t need more patriarchy. It needs fewer men who mistake a woman’s independence for a personal insult. Women are not the guardians of your fragile ego, and their freedom is not a social disease. If feminism looks like a cancer to you, maybe take a closer look at the values you’re so desperately trying to protect.

Hear me out!! 😂 Antonio Conte is Manchester United's nuclear option. He’ll fall out with everyone, the board, the players, the media, the tea lady, and eventually the grass at Carrington for not being cut to his exact specifications. He’ll probably last 18 months before getting sacked in spectacular fashion, leaving behind a 47-page dossier explaining why everyone else was the problem. But I NEED this man at United right now. Just imagine the satisfaction of watching this bunch of overpaid prima donnas who have somehow outlasted yet another manager being screamed at by an angry Italian man who treats a 0-0 draw like a personal war crime. No more comfortable little press conferences. No more players hiding behind vague quotes about “taking responsibility”. No more jogging around for 70 minutes before putting out a heartfelt Instagram statement about how much the badge means to them. Conte would have them running laps until their ancestors felt it. He’d probably introduce a 4am training session, ban desserts, and threaten to sell someone’s firstborn if they misplaced a five-yard pass. And the best part? When the inevitable meltdown happens, we get to watch the same players brief journalists about how “the environment became difficult” while the club starts searching for Manager No. 47. Will it fix Manchester United? Probably not. Will it be an absolute circus? Almost certainly. Would I pay good money to watch these pampered frauds get verbally disassembled by Antonio Conte every morning? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING YES. 😂 #mufc

Growing up doesn’t mean giving up what makes you happy. Some people find joy in football, others in films, books, gaming or fictional universes. Adulthood already has enough misery and responsibility. If someone finds comfort and happiness in something harmless, why should they outgrow it? Maturity is knowing what matters, not abandoning everything that once made you feel alive.
No disrespect to anyone, but I don’t really get how people don’t just grow out of this stuff. When I was 8-15 my life REVOLVED around Marvel, Star Wars & Harry Potter. But I grew up. At some point, you just grow out of this stuff

Manchester United's biggest problem is the complete and utter lack of accountability from the players. ZERO. It’s always the owners, always the manager, always someone else. Somehow, the players are perpetually innocent victims of everyone else’s incompetence. Bruno Fernandes, the club captain, has now effectively thrown Michael Carrick under the bus by shifting the blame for the performance onto him. And let me be clear: I WANT CARRICK GONE TOO. But there’s a fucking difference between me saying that as a supporter and you doing it as the captain of the club you supposedly lead. HE IS NOT MY MANAGER. HE IS YOURS. You wear the armband. You’re supposed to set the standards, take responsibility when things go wrong and lead by example. Instead, we get another round of deflection, finger-pointing and players conveniently washing their hands of the mess they helped create. This is exactly why Manchester United keep going around in circles. Managers come and go, owners get criticised, executives get blamed, but the players? They survive every disaster, undermine another manager, and start afresh under the next one. This isn't just a team with a losing mentality. It's a club culture where accountability stops at the dressing-room door. And until that changes, it doesn't matter who the manager is. The same fucking cycle will continue. #MUFC

Take away Saraswati, Take away the fair daughter who stands beside Mother Durga, When books are treated as garbage, worshipping her means nothing. Load the goddess of learning’s clay form onto a truck today, Let the right side stay empty, Why keep a place for her at all? Shape even the single-frame idol that way. For the sake of books, this state no longer needs even a touch of the Word. From the five in that pandal, take Saraswati away. . . From this morgue of her children, take Mother Durga away today. Let Mahishasura stay alone. His home isn’t so far off anyway. If needed, build him some idol with a thousand arms, write “All izz well” on placards and put them in those hands. Let the demon stay. Take the gods and goddesses away from the worship. /// These are the opening & closing lines of a searing poem written by Arya Tirtha... after the recent unfortunate events that have transpired during Durga Pujo in Kolkata. The poem asks - are we even worshipping Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesh & Kartik. Should Maa Durga's idol be removed and only Mahishasura be worshipped? . No amount of AI translation can match the pain and anguish the original Bengali lines convey.... there is something deep in the Bengali consciousness that has been assaulted by the BJP this time around. For decades - though Congress / Left / TMC regimes - Maa Saraswati never faced the bulldozer and though all the decades of Durga Pujo chaos in Kolkata - no one had to die in a mindless stampede or were excavators sent to destroy book stalls. Is this just a reflection of who we have become? // // Here is the original poem in Bangla - it would be amazing if this could be translated to all languages - keeping the context and rage intact. ।

The irony of lecturing Bengalis about their own culture while completely missing the point is almost impressive. Nobody said you cannot celebrate Dussehra in Bengal. Ravana Dahan has been happening in Kolkata for decades. But a tradition existing in Kolkata doesn't automatically make it an integral part of Bengali cultural identity. By that logic, every festival celebrated in every Indian city must be indigenous to every region. What a spectacularly stupid argument. Bengal has its own Vijayadashami traditions, rooted in the cultural world of Durga Puja. Recognising that Dussehra is predominantly associated with North Indian traditions isn't an insult to Ram, an attack on Hinduism, or a declaration of war on anyone's religious freedom. It's a statement about regional culture. Something you might understand if you weren't so busy manufacturing outrage. And dragging Eid and Muharram into this? Classic whataboutery. Nobody is stopping you from burning Ravana's effigy. But don't confuse the freedom to celebrate a tradition with the right to dictate how Bengalis understand their own culture. Bengal isn't culturally up for annexation. And being loud about your ignorance doesn't make you an authority on Bengali identity.
At Central Park Salt Lake, Kolkata is hosting a massive 60-foot Ravan Dahan this Dussehra, organized by Saltlake Sanskriti Parishad. CM @SuvenduWB & the whole team of Ramayana might be present. Every year, self proclaimed bengali warrior who thrives outside Bengal with a narrow mindset scream that Ravan Dahan is "alien north Indian culture" being pushed into Bengal. Yet these same people have zero issues with Arabic-origin traditions like Eid and Muharram thriving in the land of Durga. Durga Puja happens across Gujarat, Delhi, and globally. Why is Sri Ram—who worshiped Maa Durga and defeated Ravan—the only one branded an "outsider" in Bengal? The hypocrisy is stunning.

So thought balloons put out by someone at the Premier League or club involved regarding a big point deduction this reason and something next. Sum total? No titles rescinded. City back in 2-3 seasons They'll keep plenty of players to compete plus academy. So 20 trophies, elevation from nationally big-ish club to globally big club, owners carry on regardless, nothing to see regarding last few years including fees, player and former managers contracts. Seems fair. If that's the punishment then I genuinely hope Newcastle United in particular just blow everyone out of the water and overheat the system in England so much that it will be impossible to compete at all. That they win every major trophy every season for 50 years and destroy English football, bankrupting 50+ clubs as they chase the impossible. Because if the punishment for a decade plus of deliberate corrupt practice is 2 or 3 seasons out of the Premier League then I'll cheer on any club in this land who does the same in the future.
