My social media history has already doomed me, so I might as well keep going (Point! Laugh! Ridicule!). I'm glad I live in a blue state, but there's still a better than zero chance I'll end up in jail or shot down in the streets. (Wish I was joking.)

This. Crude, but sadly all too true.
It's left to the foreign press to cover Trump accurately because every U.S. based WH reporter is competing to see who can fit his dick and balls in their mouth at the same time.

One can only hope. And @SenatorTimScott should be sued personally. Make it hurt. (I can't help but pity the guy, but this is just beyond ridiculous. You are NEVER going to get a seat at the table, Tim, no matter how much you suck up to MAGA.)
Fox News about spend another $800 million.

ICYMI. @SenJonHusted Really? Truly tragic how low you and most of the rest of the GOP has fallen.
“Vote for me because an 80 year old adjudicated rapist thinks I have a nice ass” is a hell of a closing message.

I know. I know. This is brutal, but REALLY funny. (And Mullin is really stupid.)
I saw Markwayne Mullin on Fox News for a minute this morning. I had no idea what he was speaking about. He labors to say the simplest things. Honestly, he's not a bad communicator - he's a non-communicator. I imagine him at dinner nightly with his family, wanting someone to pass him the salt, and it never happens.

This. I sometimes think we are living in the prequel to Parable.
“That’s all anybody can do right now. Live. Hold out. Survive. I don’t know whether good times are coming back again. But I know that won’t matter if we don’t survive these times.” -Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower

This. And I just read how Islam built libraries and saved thousands and thousands of Greek and Roman texts. (Library. An Unquiet History, recommended read.)
My comments on the triumph of Arab science and their contribution to preserving Aristotle, Ptolemy, Euclid, Pythagoras, Archimedes, during the dark ages, until it transitioned 500 years later to Copernicus, Galileo, Tycho Brah, Kepler, Vesalius, da Vinci, Gilbert. Without the great centers of Arab science in Baghdad, Cordoba, Cairo, all would have been lost. There would be no SpaceX, Anthropic, Meta, or at least not for another 500 years. You can take that to the bank straitstimes.com/world/unite…

This. But the truly awful part is that the Brits shot the thousands of horses that made it to the end of the war because it was too expensive to ship them home.
As a nation we do memorials so well. IT HAS NO SADDLE. NO RIDER. AND IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, A SINGLE TEAR. THIS IS THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL TO THE HORSES OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR. Unveiled in 2018, she stands at Ascot. The horse is simply called Poppy.

This. I mean, c'mon. It's so eye-watering stupid...
when they say things like “if democrats win, your kid will go to school a boy and come home a girl!!” the correct response is NOT “well, only 1% of the population is trans” The correct response is: THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AND YOU NEED HELP FOR BELIEVING THAT IT DOES

Oh look. NBC actually reported some news that isn't normalizing Trump.
On the day a sitting president landed in Lubbock, Texas, for the first time in 34 years, people waited for hours in lines stretching for blocks in this reliably red city. But the crowd wasn't waiting for President Trump. They were waiting for Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. nbcnews.com/politics/2026-el…

Yep. The tan suit. The arugula. The dijon mustard. All because he was black. *Sigh* It's so stupid it's funny.
is this what it was like from 2008-2016 lol

This. And "Strategy" "Message" etc. in headlines today. Media still normalizin him. 🙄 Nope, he's always been dumb as a box of rocks and is now suffering from increasing mental decline.
Lawrence: “Identifying how breathtakingly stupid donald trump is has been one of the lonely pursuits of this particular hour of television. In most of the rest of the news media it’s assumed he has some kind of reason4why he says&does things…the only constant is his stupidity.”

I hope she wins, and we need more of this! I hope we eventually get back some sanity so I don't automatically assume someone flying an American flag is a cult member. (I was married to a Republican years ago, we agreed to disagree.)
This is what putting South Carolina first looks like. I’m honored to have the support of two former governors — Republican David Beasley and Democrat Jim Hodges. We may not agree on everything, but we share a belief that matters most: South Carolina deserves leaders who will always put its people first.

My cat loves the lap. She hops into mine multiple times a day, gets some ear rubs, purrs up a storm and then hops off to go do whatever she does when she's not following me around. (She's in mine right now.) Seriously, cats are just the best (also dogs.)

Want to feel better? If you've not already done so, go vote! Always makes my day. And the Cheesecake Factory silliness tweaked my sweet tooth, so got a piece of cake (OMG! Coconut heaven) from local woman-owned bakery. Buy local, do good. (And, yes, I'm old. :) )

Yep. And I can always find SOMETHING to compliment.
People wonder why I give so many compliments to strangers. I'm not being fake, and I'm certainly not looking for people to like me. But, if I pass someone and I like something, I say it: "Love those shoes," "Great hair" or "Your eyes are beautiful!" …..Why? Because life is hard, and this world can be a shitty place. Some people are just plain mean. You never know how much those few words could mean to someone. You never know what hell they may be going through. And when you put positive vibes out in the universe, YOU become a happier person. So, random compliment giving will change your life, and more importantly, it may change someone else's as well.

This. If you're a rational adult, you shouldn't expect to agree with someone on everything. (Obama even said Michelle doesn't always agree with him.)
we have to stop operating in absolutes. you can support a candidate w/o agreeing with every word of their platform. you can support an issue w/o making it your hill to die on. you can like a restaurant w/o thinking it’s the pinnacle of interior design. critical thought is dead

This. It's the main reason I had MoW for my mom. She usually didn't eat the food and it gave me a break for a day.
Sometimes, a Meals on Wheels delivery is the wellness check that saves a senior’s life.

I've never had any interest in going to the Cheesecake Factory. It's a mid, overpriced chain. But there's one about a mile from mi casa; I'm now curious. Heh.

So, are there any good ideas about how we can inflict damage on @Google? And I hope Finland makes them pay $$$$$.

This. And we've got nearly two months between the election and the new House and Senate. We're going to have to slog through a bunch of insane crap. BUT, we will be able to minimize damage and reverse some of it once the Democrats are in.
A Democratic sweep in the midterms won’t magically fix everything overnight. But between Trump entering lame-duck territory and Democrats gaining the subpoena power to check his corruption, the fever will finally start to break. It’s a long road back, but this is where the turnaround begins.
