Chennai Metro Phase II is very close to my heart. Have been watching its progress closely.

1. Purchase order copy with the list of books issued to Agalvilakku Pathippakam, including date and who signed/authorised.
2. Who recommended these books.
These details should be available with the government in Coimbatore or Chennai.
If these two are released, the matter ends!

அரசாணை (நிலை) எண். 250, 05.11.2025-ன்படி கோயம்புத்தூரில் அமைந்துள்ள பெரியார் அறிவுலகத்திற்கு நூல்கள் ரூ.50 கோடி மதிப்பில் கொள்முதல் செய்ய குழு அமைத்து ஆணை வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இணைய வழியில் நூல் பரிந்துரைக் குழுவில் 112 உறுப்பினர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு கொள்முதல் செய்வதற்கான நூல்கள் பரிந்துரை செய்யப்பட்டனர்.
09.01.2026 அன்று அண்ணா நூற்றாண்டு நூலகத்தில் 112 நூல் பரிந்துரைக்குழு உறுப்பினர்களால் பரிந்துரைக்கப்பட்ட நூல்களை நூல் தேர்வுக் குழு உறுப்பினர்களால் கொள்முதல் செய்வதற்கான நூல்கள் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
நூல் தேர்வுக் குழுவால் பரிந்துரைக்கப்பட்ட நூல்களை, 24.01.2026 அன்று நூல் விலை பேச்சு வார்த்தை குழு வழியாக 25 சதவீதம் முதல் 40 சதவீதம் வரை நூல்களுக்கான விலை குறைப்பு பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தப்பட்டது.
அதனடிப்படையில் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்ட நூல்களுக்கு ஆணை வழங்க 05.02.2026 அன்று நடைபெற்ற உயர்நிலை குழுவில் ஒப்புதல் பெறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, 06.02.2026 அன்று சிறப்பு நூலகங்களுக்கான ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் குழுவினரால் நூல் கொள்முதல் ஆணை வழங்க நூல் பட்டியல் பரிந்துரைக்கப்பட்டு, ஆணை வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
அதனடிப்படையில் பெரியார் அறிவுலகத்திற்கு ரூ.19.19 கோடி மதிப்பில் 60,266 நூல்கள் கொள்முதல் செய்யப்பட்டன.

So far, this is what I have understood about the Periyar Arivulagam Library and Science Centre book procurement issue in Coimbatore...
₹50 crore was allocated for buying books. 112 members recommended books, which were then shortlisted by a selection committee. There was also a price negotiation process, followed by approval from the higher-level committee.
Finally, 60,266 books worth ₹19.19 crore were purchased.
Now, questions are being raised about overpriced books, publishers, ISBNs and even AI-generated content.
What I would like to understand is who selected these books, who verified them and who was responsible for the actual procurement.
The process started under the DMK government, but that alone doesn't establish who is responsible for the alleged irregularities. We need to look at the actual timeline and records before jumping to conclusions.
This is my understanding so far. Correct me if I'm wrong or if I've missed any important detail.

I’m literally fed up with Vijay and his followers shouting CORRUPTION!
Vijay admitted ₹15 crore in cash income during an Income Tax raid, including ₹5 crore for Puli. He later declared it and faced a ₹1.5 crore penalty.
In his Rolls Royce tax case, a judge remarked, “Tax evasion is to be construed as an anti-national habit.”
Vijay later paid the tax and got those remarks removed on appeal.
Now he promises a “Corruption Free Tamil Nadu”!
Would he have declared that ₹15 crore without the raid?
His followers have only two answers, DMK and corruption free Tamil Nadu. Apparently, their leader’s own tax record is beyond questioning!

In short theatrics in positive and governance in negative.
Six months of Vijay Government.
Pluses and Minuses
Pluses:
1. Anti corruption measures: Good start but things are starting to fray. No action so far against any senior Govt official is a dampener.
2.Greater Transparency: Assembly live telecast, greater scrutiny of tenders etc.
3.Accessible Ministers: Ministers and MLA's easier to reach and mostly do not throw their weight around.
4. Existing schemes mostly continued with some name and cosmetic changes.
Minuses:
1. Law and Order: No major improvement
2. Non communicating CM is a significant issue
3.Infrastructure development: Policy paralysis on several issues. Dozens of Projects are stuck or in limbo. Scrapping Parandur airport, a disaster for the State, the new Secretariat location uncertainty etc. cause loss of confidence.
4. Power situation: Fragile with power outages.
5. Profligate welfarism with the slew of new freebies.
6. No clear vision for the State.
7. Industries Dept: Mostly on auto pilot. No proactive measures to get investment.
8. Across Departments lack of clarity on policy issues:
I am not adding the inexperience and the frequent bloopers of the Ministers.
Overall has "Maatram" or Change happened?
Mostly NO. There is a feeling that the CM needs to get his act together, get a better set of advisors for Governance issues (present lot can be his Political advisors). Expertise is in seriously short supply across the Government.
Discontent is already brewing against the TVK Govt. CM Vijay remains hugely popular but it will not be long before the lack of competence of his Government starts to affect his personal popularity.
Hope he seeks good counsel and better sense prevails.
