So funny!! This also makes me think about how some signs in ASL mean completely different- sometimes offensive- in BSL, and vice versa. #falsecognatesforthewin #apply #appear #fake

Going through school papers. Found one saying my son performed poorly on a reading test when he was 7. He is deaf bilingual with bsl first; he just got his A in Nat5 for English. We need better tools for assessing bsl kids; he wasn’t behind, he was just going a different route.

In equity & diversity work, do you have a preference for INCLUSION or BELONGING? Please share WHY in the comments! Bonus question: If you are multilingual is there a different word that better captures the idea (or something "beyond" the idea)? @naomicaselli @drcdobbs

Hall & Dills (2020, JDSDE), 1/7: The “crucial question”: what type(s) of linguistic input maximize a DHH child’s chances of mastering at least 1 language by school entry? We still lack good data. Why? In part, because of limitations in “communication mode” as a construct.
