Today (10/24/26) is Pythagorean Theorem Day.
The month, day, and last two digits of the year are a Pythagorean triple and satisfy the Pythagorean theorem equation (a² + b² = c²).
10² + 24² = 26²
This is the final Pythagorean Theorem Day of the 21st century.
last year I made this recipe, and this month 2 of my kids came to me separately and asked me to make pumpkin pie soon (doing that now)….it’s a huuuuuuge improvement bc normally no one really cares for pumpkin pie for some reason. thank you Julie!
⚠️ this is a pie making lecture for the ladies. A lot of silly guys with zero skill set other than running their mouths have weaponized one of our greatest contributions to American culture against us. Unlike most of these basement dwellers, you already have a plethora of culinary skills at your disposal, so if you have not yet mastered this great American iconic dessert, this Thanksgiving is the time to add pies to your repertoire.
For those with absolutely zero pie experience like unfortunate Heather below, the absolutely easiest place to start is with the classic American Thanksgiving pumpkin pie and I'm going to share my tastiest, cheapest, simplest version of it.
Go to Walmart and pick up a pack of 2 9-inch ready to bake pie crusts, 2 15-oz. cans of pumpkin, and 1 can evaporated milk all of which are on sale right now for $2.13, $1.16, and $1 respectively. You will also need the following items which you should already have at home sugar, salt, cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, eggs, molasses and whipping cream.
Now you are going to follow the same old recipe that can be found on the back of a Libby's pumpkin can. EXCEPT!!! you are going to make the following changes:
1. the recipe calls for one 29-oz can of pumpkin but using 2 15-oz cans will be fine
2. only use 1, I repeat ONE, can of evaporated milk
3. add 1/4 cup molasses to your wet ingredients
4. you WILL whip up some REAL whipping cream (also on sale at Walmart right now) with your hand mixer to serve on top, adding a little powdered sugar and vanilla to taste.
Now go bake your people some pie! For 'merica and for the Lord!
I need to read this tmr for more pie inspo 🤭
All this talk of pie has got me wondering, ladies, what kinds of pie are you planning to make for your own husband and family members to delight in this Thanksgiving?
I always have to have apple, and I usually try a new recipe every year too. I’m considering the chocolate bourbon pecan pie recipe (link below), but I’m also open to seeing what your go-to recipes are. 🥧
dang it, I almost subbed brown sugar but thought I was imagining things. oh well it’s a trial run anyway, the real thing comes later xitter.cf/gmk_julie/status/19858…

Nooo trust me. 2 cans of evaporated milk is waaay too much. You want it dense not runny. And the molasses is an absolute must. If you must know I also sub brown sugar, duck eggs, and amp up the spices but this post was for first time pie bakers so I didn’t want to overwhelm 😅
lol this could have been me I swear. doctors only made it to 2/5 of my births bc they never believe me when I say the baby is coming 😂
I haven’t read a ton, but Flavel’s pneumatologia is a fav that I return to frequently. The only thing that ties our spirit is our body is our breath. Flesh is of flesh, spirit is of spirit. This is basic stuff.

@JoelWebbon and @Wesley_Todd_ explain how the soul comes from God but also through the bodies of the mother and father, shaped by their "genetic particularities." Therefore, like physical features, the nature of soul and spirit is inherited through lineage, i.e. ethnicity.
