Consultants and SAS doctors in England - look out for your indicative ballot email from @TheBMA today!
Wes Streeting called pay restoration "a journey, not an event" - so why have we stopped?
Are you prepared to stand up to demand your value is recognised by the government?

Downwards I hope.
Fingers crossed eh?

Pity Leng wasn't able to reach the obvious conclusion: If you need doctors, employ doctors, including SAS doctors - which any NHS trust could do today.
We have always been here and are tired of being overlooked in the workforce crisis.

The Leng Review of the PA and AA roles lays bare catastrophic failures in NHS leadership that have put patients at serious risk of harm.
But unfortunately its recommendations do not adequately protect patients.

FINALLY- Decision @RCPhysicians investigation
Removal from the Council of an elected member
Barring standing for elections
12 months
By a panel which is unknown - with zero right to reply.
(To be ratified by Council on 15/7)
For exposing chicanery around PAs by senior execs
While prev PRCP and Reg have zero sanctions after their actions brought along an EGM @djnicholl
Pretty much as expected by an organisation trying to suppress any dissenting voice
Regrets? Nil
You can try whatever you want - the direction around PAs has changed for good
Kids- never ever give up a fight when you are doing the right thing.
On the upside?
RCP have asked me to see my GP for mental distress this may have caused me.

Another Persian phrase for describing a messed up situation (a shitshow) is khar tu kharé. It means "there's a donkey inside another donkey."

Well said @UKGastroDr et al. I wish boomers would stay in their lane and stop pulling up the ladder behind them.

Just imagining the number of Datixes that would come up if you extubated a patient in recovery 🤯
Where do you perform tracheal extubation - theatre or the post-operative care unit?
Extubation in the OT is associated with an increase in theatre occupancy of < 8 min and a lower incidence of postoperative respiratory & cardiovascular complications.

Somehow I also need to approve new requests to our ‘workspace’ that no one uses anyway? I never asked to do this and I don’t want to either 🤨
The Induction to @Accurx transformation really is a peak 2020s success story. Take an app everyone likes, make it more annoying and less useful, bizarrely add an 'AI scribe' to a phone book, spam everyone with emails about how great it all is. Ace.
Hang on is it VE Day or just International Day of the Midwife?! #confused

Resident doctors placed in this position of supervision of PAs should contact BMA & refuse. You are responsible for their decisions and this has been confirmed in MPTS hearings.
Do not accept being the liability sponge for NHS trusts trying to make savings.
Responding to the publication of the @gmcuk’s good practice advice for doctors who supervise and work with PAs:
‘It is disappointing that this new resource from the GMC allows for the supervision of PAs by other healthcare professionals and doctors in training – we drew a firm boundary in our guidance to protect the training opportunities and role of resident doctors.
‘Patient safety is our priority. This is why we’ve repeatedly called for a national scope of practice for PAs. They should not work autonomously, prescribe medications, or request ionising radiation.’ Dr @HilaryWMedic, chair of the RCP PA oversight group.
