The greatest mystery in Indian economics: You spend 15 years studying, land a job and watch 30% TDS disappear before your salary even hits your bank account. Meanwhile, the local ward corporator, who has no traceable business on paper: Cruises in a convoy of 2 white fortuners, builds a multi crore mansion in your locality, and spends your entire annual CTC just putting up birthday hoardings across the junction. In India, an honest corporate career buys you a 20 year EMI. Local politics buys you generational real estate. We aren't paying taxes for public infrastructure. We’re crowdfunding VIP lifestyles.

Peter Koch, editor and publisher of the long-running Moon Miner's Manifesto, passed away on October 8. He was 88. Peter advocated for developing and settling the Moon for most of his life. Whether through the NSS or the Moon Society, which he helped create, Peter held the knowledge, lore, and spirit that kept it all going. He will be sadly missed. nss.org/remembering-peter-ko…

This was a good science talk for the public, and the hall was almost full on a Thursday evening + good crowd from outside IISER Pune city (young & old) likes & values science...for utility and curiosity. How do I draw this inference? The quality of questions after the talk

It's not Rahul Gandhi or any other oppostion leader, it's not CJP, its not YouTube Journalists, It's Trump who has fractured Modi's "strong PM" image that he built over last 12yrs by spending public money on foreign travels and PR. From Op sindoor ceasefire announcement to High tariffs to different restrictions on IT companies, he keeps challenging us and we can't even counter it confidently.
#WATCH | US President Donald Trump says, "...You stop India and Pakistan, two nuclear nations... I said, "Fellas, if you guys are going to do that, you're not going to trade with the United States...I'm going to put massive tariffs on both of you, 250 percent, so you won't be able to do any business." They got very upset, very angry; they stopped shooting, and the war was over...Eleven planes were shot. I stopped all these wars, and it's really an honor to do so..." (Video Source: Reuters)

People often say that After Modi, make Yogi as PM. No, don't give any man to run the country who doesn't have a wife and children. For that matter even Rahul Gandhi should not be PM Unless he gets married. You can't run a country who is deeply into culture of marriage, families without you yourself having the experience of > Handling a woman's mood swings, this itself teaches how to handle public sentiments at large. > How to Find time for wife and children so that you don't claim to work 20hrs a day and promote toxic work culture > buying groceries, vegetables and daily needs items to know the real Inflation is way more than offical data. > So, you don't go on secret foreign vacations without any reason. You've someone to answer at home. > So that you know how young generation think, what they want and you know your bad policies will impact your own children in future because they'll have a life to live even after you're gone.

In this week's #Parallax, I argue that IISc should be Isro’s #JPL! India’s space ambitions need a stronger bridge between fundamental research & space missions. @isro & @iiscbangalore already have the foundations. India now needs to build on them. Link: shorturl.at/bAyMt

Laya can help protect your website from agentic attack jailbreaking. Imagine a swarm of agents attacking your website, and in under 33 ms, it all gets blocked. Also, before the agent is allowed to call a tool (send email, query a database, execute code, etc.), Laya can answer: “Is this action consistent with the original user request and safe under the current policy?” Low confidence or a clear “no” triggers a human review or hard block. All on your browser with the 421 M model on edge!!! github.com/NandhaKishorM/lay…

The comments below this tweet shows how uninformed I am in the ways of the high t-shirt.
Meanwhile Instagram ecommerce brands are living in their own universe. 2500 for a damn plain cotton tshirt? It better give the wearer some kind of superpower too.

☀️➡️🌏 Delighted to share our recent work exploring the dynamics of stellar magnetic forcing of planetary magnetospheres, and establishing scaling laws that offer clues to the physics of (exo)planetary space weather. Star-planet interactions vary enormously across systems, and running detailed simulations for every exoplanet is not feasible given the high computing cost. So we perform a (feasible) number of 3D MHD simulations, varying stellar wind speed, stellar magnetic field and planetary magnetic field, to uncover some general principles that apply to Earth-like (exo)planets. Alfvén wings close around the planet with faster winds but open ip with stronger stellar fields; their opening angles agree reasonably well with theory. Magnetotail current-sheet length scales linearly with a dimensionless measure of wind driving relative to magnetic confinement. The magnetopause distance scales inversely with tail length. Such scalings relationships offer physics-based insight to interpret exoplanetary magnetospheric dynamics in a generalized manner, assess (exo)planetary space weather, and understand the response of Earth like exoplanets to extreme stellar forcing. Another chapter closes in Sakshi's @sakshi_g1997 PhD thesis -- who worked hard close to a year to perform these simulations under trying circumstances and limited computational resources.
