I’m pleased to announce the publication of my new book, “Event Horizon Strategy: Enhance Careers, Create Business Value, and Avoid Industry Disruption with Generative AI.” This book is about how organizations can navigate an era of dramatic technological acceleration by AI without being overwhelmed by it. AI’s impact is like a black hole—a singularity with a strong gravitational pull, beyond which it is difficult to predict the outcome. Generative AI is reshaping competitive landscapes, organizational capabilities, and the very nature of work. The central question that Event Horizon Strategy answers is how to prepare for this profound uncertainty without either halting progress or rushing forward recklessly. Event Horizon Strategy is intended for practitioners – executives, managers, frontline employees, engineers, entrepreneurs, and investors – who are grappling with where to invest their attention and resources. It provides a strategic framework for understanding when to delay, when to commit, and when to selectively experiment with emergent AI capabilities. The book is unique in highlighting best practice use cases for deriving value from AI. It takes an organizational perspective, including across various lenses – individuals seeking to improve their workplace productivity, the functions like HR, finance, sales & marketing, and R&D that are transforming their activity systems, and industry verticals like banking, manufacturing, software development, and retail that are competing with best practices around generative AI adoption. Rather than prescribing one universal path, the framework emphasizes deliberate, iterative learning—an approach I term “flexible experimentation.” It is my view that those organizations able to navigate uncertainty by thoughtfully adopting and refining their generative AI applications will be better positioned for long-term adaptability and resilience. In some ways writing a book about AI is a fool’s errand, as AI is changing so fast, so anything you write down may be obsolete soon after you publish it! Still, there are enduring principles and concepts that can guide thinking and decision-making. The book attempts to distill the core strategic patterns, highlight best practice use cases, and provide a language through which we can debate and refine our approaches. I plan to update the cases and specific best practices in future editions, ensuring that the foundational frameworks remain useful as the technology advances. I’m grateful to the many individuals who informed these ideas. Over recent years, I’ve conducted field research at bigtech and startup companies building large language models (LLMs), engaged in discussions with AI executives and engineers, and worked closely with leaders and learners across various industries through my teaching in my Executive Education program “Leading AI and Digital Transformation” and my MBA course “AI Entrepreneurship,” where I have used cases I’ve written on Tesla, OpenAI, and Palantir in my teaching. Their insights, feedback, and sometimes skepticism have sharpened this project. It’s my hope that Event Horizon Strategy will help open further dialogue around how best to navigate a future defined by generative AI, and that it will serve as a resource for those seeking both intellectual rigor and practical guidance. amazon.com/dp/B0DPD9JSB1

Seeing this makes you realize: maybe it all is about compute.
Hate to dox myself a bit but have worked on just about every fighter jet the US has. I have seen some impressive technology over my career but this is a whole other level. I have so many questions and need to know how this works. How much edge compute is needed to make this happen? My first thought is dual processor + 1TB ram. That way it can handle the fuckquintillion process per second. There was zero correction it nailed it 100%.

Kiss Of The Vampire (1962), which has a complacent, seemingly idyllic marriage troubled by erotic temptations from a sinister cult and which centres around a creepy, sexy masked party, should really be on the list.

Lucky coincidence the labs are only successfully cracking esoteric math problems and not the problems where a solution would give the winner an asymmetric commerical advantage.

👀 "81% of all (math) discoveries in last 3 years have been released today." Open AI solved 90 of top 500 open math problems
i asked GPT 6 Pro and Fable 5.1 to rank all discoveries in the last three years 🔵 for Human discovered 🔴 for AI discovered (before October 6th) 🟢 for AI discovered from OpenAI/math repo 81% of them have been released today. wtf

Holy Jev
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

Following up on their AI Apps, the MBAs in my INSEAD “AI Entrepreneurship” class built some fascinating AI Agents! This year’s lineup: recruitment agents that find roles, tailor applications and help with referrals; an apartment-hunting agent for Singapore; a weather prediction-market agent; a learning platform that adapts pathways and schedules to student performance; portfolio briefings that explore what’s driving stock moves; a wearable-data health agent designed to flag risks and coordinate appointments; and an email-powered chief of staff that keeps track of tasks, plans and calendars. Amazing to see MBA students go from building apps to exploring what happens when AI can take action. Congrats folks, nice work! :)

"The harness is doing the damage. That's not what I expected."
If you’re a vibe coder, this is who you have to listen to. Let me introduce you to Robert C. Martin. He wrote THE “bibles” of software engineering. His two books: “Clean Code” and “Clean Architecture” changed the entire industry. Led millions to pursue software craftsmanship.

What is it that you do? Exactly. I move the file from Codex to Claude Code. I told you OpenAI doesn’t like to work with Anthropic! I’m an AI person! I have AI skills!

Isn’t this what most scholars feel about their field (even before AI)? …that it’s tapped out for truly meaningful and impactful questions? I guess it’s coming to mathematics a little late because intelligence was a real constraint there and AI unhobbles that

Abhishek with the epic trolling, making everyone articulate the same response about cost curves 😅 sigma level Professor technique 🤙
like all other technologies your equivalent agent swarm will cost a buck fifty in like a year. all this stuff will mean an unprecedented Enlightenment no matter the costs today

It is strange that the smartest among us are being humbled daily while most everyone else is not - Dunning-Kruger effect on steroids
Tao is talking about setting up math problems preservations on mastadon. He isn't even posting about the proof. He must be pissed. This is his pet problem he has been thinking about it for idk two decades?

Some very cool apps built by the students in my "AI Entrepreneurship" INSEAD MBA class today! This year's lineup: a sports-streaming aggregator for wherever you are in the world, a relocation hub that finds you an apartment and reads the lease, a personal finance tool that turns your bank statements into spending vs. goals, a real-estate masterplan platform that puts land use, maps, and financials in one source of truth, a classroom and learning platform for day cares, an all-in-one super app for pet owners, a back-office operating system for insurance brokers in the Middle East, and a skincare guide. Some no-code builders like Lovable used this time, but a lot more Claude Code and Codex from the terminal. Congrats folks, nice work. :)
