Why mention how much the referee got paid? Totally irrelevant. A game, in most circumstances, wouldn't be called off due to poor touchlines.

So far this weekend I've seen referees slagged off for... playing the game, not playing the game, and for starting and then abandoning the game 😅🤷‍♂️

I saw that yesterday, online and it was embarrassing that some sad person could write such a comment. Think that person needs help. As for Darren great ambassador for the game and more important the country.

Imagine the uproar at games across the country if refs called them off before KO by saying their ARs would create an awful mess running up and down the touchlines.

If you’re playing this weekend do your thing. If you’re a coach, coach your team, if you’re a parent/partner, supporter your team, above all, support the official who are doing their best to officiate the game we are all a part of. DON’T RUIN THE GAME BY ABUSING A REFEREE.

On Wednesday we hosted an Introduction to Refereeing event in Cardiff. It was encouraging to see so many attendees showing a keen interest in becoming a referee!

And a lot (at least 90%) of those club supplied assistants (who are sometimes subs before they come on) deliberately give offside calls to favour their own side, even when an opposing player is nowhere near being offside. I’ve watched hundreds of games that. were ruined by this

Players have 10 assistants on the pitch. Doesn't stop them making the odd cock up. Even the very best. Match officials in the vast majority of football matches have one view at full speed with just seconds to decide.

A lot of matches have assistants. However, there are almost no independent assistants in grassroots football.

99% of football doesn’t have VAR and probably around 50% only has a ref with one view.
