Our boss gave you a 10k word thread on vaults this weekend. ๐งต
If you were busy frolicking and didn't read it (like us), here's a shorter explanation of vaults with lots of emojis:

@revaultdev was--still is, one of the most interesting novel Bitcoin products I've ever seen. It breaks my soul watching literally every institution and big service provider in the space converging within a handful of mega custodian honeypot, when people like Kevin and @Wizardsardine actually worked to fix the hard problems, the right way, and factually ship and see no traction, even from the most "hardcore Bitcoiner" companies.
Yes, it required some very complex engineering, but they pulled off a real vault design, without covenants, and nobody cared. I don't think vaults move the covenants needle significantly.
Me, seen as a vault hater.
Also, me, launched the first on-chain Bitcoin Vault company, full open-source novel architecture and "working" product, built with Miniscript (in 2020 ffs, no hardware nor Core support back then!).
I believe my opinion counts a little bit, and I don't think I'd have spent years of my life doing this if I didn't want vaults.
I'm not the market though.
Revault works today, without covenants. If a large institution need a Bitcoin vault today, we can help them integrate it. Don't expect it to be simple to deploy, but it works.
Fucked up an outgoing transaction? Watching it helplessly while it's being picked up by a miner?
Next time, deploy Revault. Cancel outgoing transactions with no fear. You can even have a watchtower automatically cancel it if it looks outrageous like that one.

If any large exchange or custodian feels like working with us on a @revaultdev deployment, ping us :D
But yes, it's a complex infrastructure to maintain.
I tried to bring covenants to several companies I worked for. In the end they're just too complex. You really need three wallets instead of one, and additional state management. Long term I think we'll get them but I'd like to see @revaultdev succeed commercially first.

Introducing Liana, by @Wizardsardine . A new type of Bitcoin wallet built around Miniscript: it feels like any wallet BUT it has a big difference: you have a recovery path after you stop moving funds for a while. What does this mean, practically?
-> backups
-> inheritance

Time to start communicating to the world :)
We have been building the Revault Protocol for a while, which allows organizations to delegate funds to specific employees (or group of) and assign any restrictions on how funds can move (amount, time, destination, or anything else).
Caveats:
- on-chain footprint is larger than regular Bitcoin tx.
- as long as covenants aren't a thing on Bitcoin, the infrastructure is complex
- hardware wallets need to be better: miniscript support, compatible with the Vault transaction chain, to make Revault safer to use.
Reach out to us to explore how a Revault deployment could help your organization.
