At 92, Gulzar writes with the same discipline that's helped him refine & reinvent his art decade after decade - building an enormous body of work known for its tenderness.
This summer, I spent time with him at his Mumbai home for this @nytimes profile:

What a victory by our team over a mighty opponent like Australia. A great chase by the girls and a standout performance by Jemimah in a big game. A true display of resilience, belief, and passion. Well done, Team India! 🇮🇳

Enjoyed moderating a session with a panel of the Rotary leadership. Threw them some challenging questions. They responded with clarity, demonstrating great competence. No doubt Rotary leadership is in very good hands!

Excellent @FT oped:
Why a Palestinian state is the best security guarantee for Israel
"My recent trip to the region has strengthened my conviction that the best guarantee for Israel’s security is the establishment of a Palestinian state. And, in the short term, we should avoid weakening the Palestinian Authority.
Vacuums cannot persist in nature or in politics. If neither Hamas nor Israel governs Gaza, and neither should, the power vacuum will quickly be filled by uncontrolled forces that could turn Gaza into a failed territory and set off another cycle of violence and terrorism. We have known since Hobbes that a society without a Leviathan, a state, is doomed to violence and chaos. "
