This holds for the @liberal_party of Canada and most Western countries. If they won't - we MUST. Pressure the political class - they love stasis. This is how Apartheid in South Africa was dismantled.

Monsters. Israel needs to be stopped.
The Israeli army has ordered more than 400 Palestinian families to evacuate their homes in Hebron, leaving thousands of people stranded in the streets with nowhere to go.

Thanks Ben. Like you I'm really into civic matters. Spend an ER shift with me. Or MSF mission with me in Congo. Afterwards, your mind goes upstream. To be factual, ER docs are a vocal bunch. We see the best and the worst of everything. We have a lot to say with good reason. As for the machine, yup. I got one. Great kid, amazing wife. I have a fire in me (like you) for a better city, province, nation and world. So yes I do radio, newspaper, Twitter and full time ER. I walk the dog a lot, listening to medical CME and commentators. At the gym I listen to medicine only. I had wicked training, wicked teachers and always fire in the maw. You and I disagree on policy up and down but we're engaged in something more than our own family or our own tribe. Let's disagree Ben and maybe agree time to time - and desire a better nation. I know that's what your family stands by and that's why I respect your family's contribution to the nation. That's not being polite, that's being honest. @BenMulroney
Never met another ER doc who tweets as much as this one. He must have a machine that folds time and space. Seems to have found an additional 24 hours in every day, just to tweet.

Mayor Olivia Chow. I'm a Toronto ER doc. I care for everyone. I don't belong to a political party. I see the best and worst of everything. I especially care for our city's vulnerable. If you haven't decided - I encourage you to vote for Mayor Chow. Smart and caring.

President Dwight Eisenhower in his farewell address: “We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence of the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists.” The warning was ignored, and now Washington’s empire stretches around the globe, profiteering off of endless war and destruction. Congress and the Presidency have been bought by the military-industrial complex, and while American cities decline, the military budget balloons, and one war after another is lined up on Washington’s conveyor belt of death.
Andy Schectman: The military-industrial complex has HELD DOWN SILVER prices to build WEAPONS ‘The military-industrial complex, if I had to guess, would be the ones that have held down silver forever. There’s massive amounts of silver in high-tech weaponry, like the Tomahawk cruise missile, like F-35s, like stealth bombers, and it’s not just in the United States; it’s sold all throughout the Western edifice through NATO. They need tremendous amounts of silver. It’s not even about the price getting away from them that they’re concerned about. It’s that rising price creates too much demand. People will run to the assets that are taking off in price. And so they suppress the price in order to build high-tech weaponry. JP Morgan, who paid a $920 million fine to the Justice Department, the largest they ever handed out for manipulating the metals market, somehow is the custodian of the world’s largest silver trust, SLV. There is no question in my mind but that it is the Western military-industrial complex that has tried forever to hold it down.' -Andy Schectman, President & CEO of Miles Franklin Precious Metals, on the latest episode of New Order. Fact: the Cowichan decision has NOTHING to do with DRIPA. David Eby didn’t understand that and neither do the Conservatives. We must be now be more vigilant than ever against any attempts to undermine the rights of Indigenous people and communities. #bcpoli #BCElection2026
The NDP passed DRIPA into law and now the Cowichan ruling is threatening YOUR private property. The Conservative Party of B.C. is the ONLY party that will fix this. On October 24th, vote for the Conservative Party of B.C. For more information check out voteharman.ca

Benjamin Moser, author of Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History, told Rashid Khalidi that his 80-year-old mother, who had all but called him a Hamas member, apologized after reading his book: “I’m ashamed I ever said I was a Zionist.” His book traces Jewish opposition to Zionism over the past century and challenges their exclusion in discussions over Palestine. “No, you don’t get to set the rules anymore. We’re setting the rules now,” Moser said. Khalidi added that he had never seen so many people change their views so rapidly, noting that major publishers are now embracing books on Palestine that would have been virtually unpublishable just three or four years ago.

The same pattern with every war-mongering propaganda campaign. In this case, Russia is portrayed as an irredeemable evil with whom diplomacy is impossible. Blinken kept repeating that there were no "meaningful" signs of Russian diplomacy. Actual evidence of diplomatic progress -- e.g. the 2022 Istanbul talks -- is memory-holed. Media across the spectrum (including progressive media, sadly) goes along. After years pass and hundreds of thousands are killed in the war that could have been stopped, it finally become permissible to admit the facts:
FT reports that in early 2023 an unofficial channel floated a deal under which Putin agreed to pull Russian forces back to the pre-24 Feb 2022 line in exchange for Ukraine dropping NATO membership and recognising Russian control of Crimea (plus a land corridor). Zelenskyy and Yermak reportedly refused even to discuss territorial concessions, believing they could secure better terms on the battlefield. Mediators say the US also declined to back the channel. Participants later called it a missed chance for a settlement more favourable to Ukraine than what followed. Now, imagine how many lives would be saved, the energy sector would not be in ruins, the economy, democracy would be preserved if the deal happened back then... TERRIBLE, DISGUSTING, INUMAN. ft.com/content/dcb57f30-bbfe…

Genocide is still on. Principled action - from states, companies, institutions and people - is needed to stop it. Worldwide strike- Oct 30.
100+ PORTS. WORLDWIDE. NO MORE WEAPONS. On October 30th, dockworkers, seafarers, students and communities in more than 100 ports around the world are standing together to say one thing: NO MORE WEAPONS. War doesn’t run itself. It runs on our hands loading the cargo, and on our silence when blockades are enforced. Governments and corporations that profit from it have counted on both for too long. From now on, they get neither. NO TO THE WAR MACHINERY. We take the ports. We take the streets. We shut it down. Oct 30th Action map link: gsumud.link/OCT30

Abdul El-Sayed: “We can have a safe and secure southern border. ICE doesn’t do that. ICE has been used as a paramilitary force on our streets. ICE is not about immigration. Under Donald Trump, ICE is about normalizing the idea that you can have masked men on your streets who can detain you without telling you why. That’s un-American. We have a rule of law. ICE needs to be abolished”

Lula vs. Bolsonaro: I was held in solitary confinement for 1,901 days for revealing the truth about the U.S. government's killings and espionage, including against Brazil and its industries. Out of power, Lula fought for my freedom. In power, Lula discussed my persecution with Pope Francis, who decided to meet with my family and offer help. After my release, Lula and I met in Rome to mourn the Holy Father's passing. Lula was kind to my children and asked for nothing in return. In contrast, Jair and Flávio Bolsonaro did nothing and said nothing. Yet without the ability to say no to Washington and Tel Aviv, there can be no domestic policy, only foreign instructions. Those orders are always the same: "Expand our theft of resources and wages, and keep your mouths shut about us murdering children." Sellouts will surrender everything in exchange for a cut, even their own tongues.

For weeks, some racist Western media outlets published story after story against Professor Jason Arday, at times every few hours, branding him a plagiarist. They hounded him relentlessly, and the pressure became too much for him. He committed suicide in August, aged just 41. This week, he was cleared of plagiarism yet again. A fresh investigation by the academic publisher Taylor & Francis found nothing to support the allegations. Of the four formal investigations into his work, not one substantiated the charge. The same publications that hunted him are now silent. They have not corrected their reporting, and they have not had the decency to admit they were wrong. This is how hard it is to be Black in a deeply racist world, and to succeed where they expect you to fail. Even those who present themselves as the moral conscience of the Western world have nothing to say. In a shameful act, the Oxford Reform Society has invited Nathan Cofnas, the self-described "race realist" who first raised the plagiarism allegations against Professor Arday, to speak at Oriel College next month. Oriel College, the home of Cecil John Rhodes’ statue. These institutions are racist. Sadly, Black leaders have failed to build rival institutions that give Black people respect and intellectual dignity. We are forced to endure disrespect because our leadership has failed us completely. Black billionaires line up to hand money to these institutions in exchange for meaningless honorary titles, instead of building our own. May Professor Arday's soul rest in peace. You were hounded to your death by publications that today do not even have the shame to admit they were wrong.

A young blonde woman with an American accent in Israel says that all the Arabs must be kicked out of Gaza because it is "our land" since "God commanded us to take it." The Palestinians should be kicked out to any other Arab state, she continues, except Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, "because they are ours." "Or we will kill them," she adds Can we stop pretending that this is a marginal view in Israel? That these are the comments of a fringe minority? They are not. Israel has been on this path for quite some time. Western governments know it fully - yet they continue to fund and enable Israel's genocidal policies.
