Solid MTA board meeting. Great treats, and no tricking, Mr. X and Samuelsen are back after a hiatus.

My column: The congestion pricing fiasco is an opportunity to put a price tag on the cynicism in politics, the same cynicism that lets Albany pols get away with treating the MTA like a jobs program while complaining about 'waste' and demanding 'audits' -- vitalcitynyc.org/articles/wh…

We wanted to know what former @nyctsubway presidents learned about running the system — so we had @s_nessen of @wnyc @gothamist sit with @FeinbergSarah and Richard Davey. It’s a lively, candid conversation with some surprisingly strong opinions. vitalcitynyc.org/articles/a-…

Pretty good metaphor for the whole congestion pricing debate, the loudest voices drown out the majority.

Finishing this book on the disinvestment of the 70s and its impact into the 90s…as my R train goes out of service due to “mechanical issues.”

Aiming to do the pop-up on Sat 9/28/24. Still scouting for a location in Manhattan. I’ll have vinyl, CDs (new & old) and other merch I honestly can’t wait to wear myself. When we meet during that pound and hug, I’d love to hear your favorite line and why it connected with you.

How to describe the heady stench wafting off the Gowanus Canal lately? Maybe a perfume nose can help. My first for Talk of the Town. newyorker.com/magazine/2024/…

Excited to share I’m now covering transportation for @wnyc and @gothamist after spending a year on general assignments at the newsroom. I’m thrilled to take on this beat covering the largest transit system in the country, joining the illustrious @s_nessen. Send me your tips!!

Nothing brings New Yorker’s communal spirit together like opening the exit gate for each other at the downtown Spring Street station when the OMNY reader is out of service.

I think the story is just the MTA was finally going to upgrade this station with money from congestion pricing, but now it’s going to delay that work, because it’s going to spend the money on other more important stuff.

Got 33 minutes & 12 seconds to hear @katie_honan & I talk congestion pricing on the @faqnyc podcast? Why, of course you do! 🎙️ 🔥 🎙️ NOTE We recorded *before* an MTA briefing on what’s next — & before Katie asked the MTA chairman if he feels like, well, check it out.

As Janno Lieber just mentioned, the ADA settlement agreement from 2022 has contingencies built in when funding drops below the expected level. See part B under "What Would the Proposed Settlement Agreement Do?" new.mta.info/accessibility/a… and below 1/8

Mayor Adams, responds to Hochul's possible congestion pricing delayed start: "We have to make sure that it's not a dual burden on everyday New Yorkers. We have to make sure that is not going to impact our recovery." He then proceeded to crush hundreds of confiscated mopeds.
