In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty. Such an attitude will greatly help humanity, especially young people, to discover the ability of art to uplift and reveal the depths of the human spirit and our openness to the divine. Contemplation presents a marvelous opportunity to encounter the God who is Beauty.

actually the emotional climax of the show happened at the end of this episode
MAD MEN would have been the undisputed greatest show of all time if it wasn’t for one crucial misstep (spoiler warning): while jon hamm is generally brilliant as don, the emotional climax of the show should be the Hershey pitch, and hamm just doesn’t quite get there.

It’s undeniably more convenient to watch in this format, but hard to shake the feeling it loses something
Full 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) by Stanley Kubrick compressed into 87 seconds.

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.

If it has more sides you are reading Timaeus.
If people are fighting for an orb you are reading fantasy. If people are fighting for a cube you are reading sci-fi. If it has more sides than that. I dont know. I dont know man.

Christians of all people should have seen the obvious, that a man so utterly in thrall to the deadly sin of pride and the vainglory that is its sequel could not be trusted to advance any principle but his own glory. They were so intoxicated by the pain he causes their enemies that they could not see beyond it to the grave damage he would inevitably do their own cause. They thought they could use him as their instrument, but he has used them as his instruments. Even now many of them still tie themselves in knots looking for ways to rationalize accepting every new betrayal. They’re in too deep to face up to the catastrophic mistake that was made in re-nominating him.
Today is a good reminder for people that Trump has no ideology or plan. He loves to wield power. If you give him a way to look dominant and a reason to do it, he will do it, regardless of anything he has said or done in the past.

Anti-human, anti-life; corrosive of sociality, civility, decency, dignity, piety, and fear of God; cynically contemptuous of truth in its abject nihilism; a stain on Christian witness for those who make themselves complicit—the cancerous rot of MAGA must go.

I would offer that Alex Pretti putting his body—with his hands up—between a woman and the BP agent who had just violently shoved her into the snow, offer stark competing visions of manhood. Pretti, a nurse caring for veterans, who took a face full of pepper spray to shield that woman, is a much better masculine ideal that the masked coward shoving the woman and executing a man on his knees. MAGA may venerate the latter, but most people in a healthy society want the former.

A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN: "We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."
