shoutout to this book which explains how you can use horror movies to see what is what is going on in a country socially and culturally
I think there is genuine good to horror movies, even beyond the heights reached by the artists making them. I'm an easily scared, rather anxious person and horror movies allow me a safe space to work through those fears and be brave. That's an absolute good.
advocating for movie censorship is so embarrassing.

I wish we had a new Ken Russel movie to talk and argue about every month. Next month let’s all watch Altered States and come back here and argue it out.

theyve created a new kind of reading called "inventive reading" where they invent the things that happen in real books instead of just reading them
yes, the word 'formulaic' does come to my mind when I'm listening to A Day in the Life, Eleanor Rigby, Strawberry Fields Forever, Norwegian Wood, Helter Skelter, Revolution 9, The Inner Light, The Abbey Road Medley

Guys, it’s The Beatles.
Formulaic music that got hyped into genius status by a perfect storm of timing and savvy media, not actual skill. Expert exploitation of trends already pioneered by others.
They’re a marketing phenomenon that got called the greatest because they sold a lot of records to herd-mentality teenagers, not because the music itself was ever the most advanced, demanding, or enduring rock ever made.
